If I can;t get it to happen today, I'll PM you for an edit.

Dose the edit drop the first note of every loop with the drop note plugin in the edit, or only the verry first one?

Hi there, I've taken a screen-grab here. It's only 90k or so, but it's a bit too large (1280x1024) to include in the post itself.

I've tried this with and without the plugin that ModuLR provided. The plugin worked great with the general dropped notes problem, but I think this might be something integral to Tracktion as it only happens on Record in looped mode and not Play.

<slightly off topic>
a bug i've have problems with is when you record audio with a count in the clip that's recorded starts slightly later than when you started. it doesn't seem to happen with midi. can anyone confirm this?

djsubject: seems to be completely arbitrary. I tried duplicating the tracks and using different VSTis and also moving the loop markers to different locations. As long as a note starts on the IN marker, it won't play when Record is pressed.

I'd have to agree with valley on this... seems like there could be slightly different glitches that are causing the drops depening on what you are doing. I never looked into the recording based ones...

just out of curiosity what kinda latencies are ppl running who are still expriencing the drop note? asio or directsound? (might not be related to anything, just curious).

Ok.. looking into the drop note when recording... the problem is that Tracktion only sends a NoteOff for any first note (and never a NoteOn). That is the root of that problem, and clearly identifies a seperate bug. This is good... all of these problems seemed interwoven, and now it's becoming clearer what's happening. :)

who the hell is able to start playing something he wants to record in the same moment you hit the record button :) it's really not a real world problem i think.

just to add to this

you can move the loop markers while it is recording!

EG: put the loop start 4 beats before the start of the loop you want to record, then while its recording move the loop start marker forward the 4 beats!

job done (unless you engeneer your own recordings)

you are so right! :hihi:

aldi: That problem was reported because it was a way of guaranteeing a note drop which I thought would be helpful for solving the general note dropping problem.

It's not how I work. But I'm glad you have such faith in my split-second playing abilities... :D

Ok, the dropped first note bug is back again. I've got one instance of DK+ inside a rack, and the rack on three tracks. I'm triggering the DK+ stepsequencer with a midi clip. Whenever loop mode is on, the first beat is skipped, but then continues to play. The midi clip is just a two bar clip with one continuous note lasting the entire two bars.

When I switch off loop mode, it plays perfectly.

I've tried putting the DropFix both in front of the rack instances on the tracks, and in front of DK+ in the rack, but to no avail.

It is only the first beat of the first pass that is skipped.

with DK+ try opening up the GUI... do the lights light up when they should? I've had some problems where the light goes on but i don't hear the hit.

lost notes with high latencies could be a bug ot it could be a flaw in the code of the plugin. I need to test this.

I'm confident this is a different problem. While you are triggering a synth via midi, DK+ is probably relying on some syncing to handle properly triggering the first note. This is the reason why StepChild skips the first note as well. It's totally unrelated to drop_fix which is for VSTs that can't handle AllNoteOff's and Sustentunos (tho you might have to use a combination if DK+ can't handle the AllNotOff's as well).

Here was a dicovery I made with that. Give this a try and report back what you find... leave loop mode ON, but turn e-to-e OFF. Now hit play and let us know if it plays the first note. Doing this fixes triggering the first note with StepChild. Leave Drop_Fix on the track with DK+ just in case DK+ can't handle the AllNoteOff sent at the start.
