Midi mapping...

I noticed that the mappings seem to be saved to new edits... Can mappings be set to default for all new edits??

Post

'fraid not.

I'm not even sure how well that would work in Tracktion, cos I think the mappers are assigned to internal filter IDs (which will chnage from edit to edit) rather than through any kind of hierarchy.

Frankly, I'd drop this one as a feature request and pressure for template edits, which would give the same functionality plus a hundred other regularly requested features...

Agreed.. though I think archived edits are a fairly good solution for now.

a little cumbersome though. It'd be nice to simply have a quick and painless way to copy an edit from the library folder into a new project. Or perhaps be able to select a library project and choose an option like "create new project as copy of this one" - which would then include audio clips and all kinds of goodies, if desired.

Hmmm... that's not too good... I thought the mapping scenario might be a saveable function... I guess they wouldn't mind having you buy some Mackie controllers, though... :hihi:

Oh, yeah. Of course, it must be part of the Great Mackie Conspiracy, why didn't I think of that?

It must be admitted that the lack of feedback on non-mackie controllers (unless in mackie emulation mode) does look susp[icious though, no? A new buyer who is lookig 4 a bargain sequencer to use with his behringer bcr will probably be pissed at this - I am, i can't afford mackie controllers - they cost as much as a new pc m8!!!

it is! also the petrol strike over here in the uk was them aswell!

And i'm not knocking T2 - & i'm prolly sidetracking from this thread, but the more i think about it, the more this pisses me off - if mackie controllers can do this - why not others? I s it any more difficult/challenging to code? The behringer i can have fun with in reason son't work with the same functionality in T2, which i will be rewiring reason into - a bit pants that isn't it? - is this 'non-function' the acclaimed 'pants tool?'

Christ there's no pleasing some people.

Controller mapping as a really useful new feature that many big name sequencers lack.

It has made my Oxygen8 and UC-16 controllers infinitely more powerful.

Feedback from the parameters you link would be an extra function that hasn't occurred to anyone before because it was not relevant until the basic functinality was added, and would only be useful for controllers with motorised faders / endless rotary encoders. (ie: not mine)

Yet somehow you conclude that its omission is a deliberate ploy to force you to buy Mackie harware.

The phrase "ungrateful wanker" springs to mind..

WHATEVER - i'm only repeating what a mate said when i gave him the rundown on the new features, soon as i mentioned that mackie markets it & it suports it ontheir controllers & not on others - it was the first thing he said - bit like everyojne would slag off yamaha/steinberg if they started to only support the 01x 4 feedback eh?

so doont dome all fuckin fanboy on me - cos it dosesn't cut it - it's a legitimate condern - & glatingly obvious too anyboby with some emotional distance from the product in the opinion of me & others

Post

& with a possible 345% price increase possible users/buyers have every right to air their concerns & viewpoints on issues like this - especially when it concerns ostensible proprietary issues

Do you get all your opinions second hand?

Which is simply not true.

Which sequencers? Sx - no, sonar - no, even logic on the pc will do it if u know your way around the environment.
& no - I form my own opinions - i'm only repeating what an impartial observer immediately thought - which is that if the c4 can do it, how much harder (if any)could it be to implement that feature for other controllers (such as the bcr) & that when one also cosiders that it is mackie (the makers of the very cool, but rather expensive c4) who now market tracktion it is not a short leap of the imagination for said impartial observer to say 'ahhh - so that's why the implementation is limited to specific hardware (mackie)- unlike in those other sequencers/packages'. If the BCF can do it in mackie emulation mode - maybe behringer will create a 'c4 emulation mode' also, but it also shows that it cah be done & that the code & capability is already there in T2 - but that it is (& u can't argue with this - as it is undeniable) limited to either MACKIE HARDWARE or hardware that is able to emulate (i.e. fool T2 into thinking that it is) MACKIE HARDWARE. Obviously I am discussing midi feedback here on controllers - not just the ability to use a midi controller.
