we cant automate the master volume/pan nor the plugs in the master section ?? tis sad... :(

Is sending all tracks to a subgroup and then sending the subgroup to the master a viable alternative ? I would suppose the master section would have a higher headroom than the tracks.. so maybe its not ideal.. but i dunno..

Hi Sidhu,

as far as i know you have to send to a subgroup like your guess. it's totally viable and shouldn'y make any difference in terms of headroom.

Wait, where do you automate the master section like volume? Since there is no mater 'track
per se?

click on any of the 'A' icons and you'll see the master volume and pan filters, Braj.

I find it useful to set up a specific track lane ("Master") to automate the master channel, although you can do it on top of any existing track.

In effect I do it like an aux return track, I suppose (often track one, so it doesn't get lost as the project grows!). I just find it clearer that way.

One of the great things is how flexible Tracktion is with stuff like this :D

Hmm, so you can edit the master track parameters from any track. That's a bit weird in a way, it totally works but is kind of unexpected. 'Conventional wisdom' or whatever would have them connected to the master section somehow. Anyway, it works and that's what matters.

I see what you're saying, because one is tempted to peek around the master area for it. Like a little 'A' icon in the master area.

But that would make even less sense, when you think about it... since there's no track with the master section as an 'output' filter.

At the end of the day, I think this is the only way that it DOES make sense.

Yeah, it makes sense after you figure it out, but not before. Kind of a paradox really  I just hope it's well documented somewhere. Was it like this in T1, I can't recall, I don't believe I tried to automate the master track in T before.
