Alesis IO|2 recording interface

I had kind of settled on getting an Edirol UA-25 as my interface of choice for T2; the Sweetwater music catalog came this weekend and I came across this:

On paper it looks great; lots of balanced I/O, MIDI, Headphones out for when I track with my mics, 2 channels of phantom power, inserts if you want, etc.

I know it's new, and I'm budgeting for the Edirol, but I have always liked Alesis products going way back to their first drum machine and the nano series of outboard effects.

I'd like to perhaps use Spike, but nobody at Mackie can tell how much a T2/Spike upgrade costs from a full version of T1 - I've asked here and at the Mackie forums.

This little bugger seems everything Spike is, but completely USB powered if you need it to be, whereas I believe Spike still needs a wall-wart.
