Reason steals the tempo

Even when it's locked in Tracktion. This is so annoying and I still can't find a cure.
if i dont take note of the songs tempo before I launch reason I can be messing around for ages trying to match it back up.
I'm on mac OSX so I dont think it's the order in which the apps were installed because that was an old OS9 bug.
Would it help to re-install Reason?

I just tried it in OS X with T2 demo and Reason 3, it works just fine
Do you have much experience with ReWire? Is T set up right?

Just to expand on "it works fine here", when you're in Rewire mode, the slave is supposed to sync to the master. Also, in some hosts (including Tracktion), you can change the tempo in Reason and see a change in the master. However, this may not work if you're using tempo automation in the master app.

I've been using reason since V.1 with various rewire masters,Logic(pants) DP(unstable).
It's not my set up because I know it backwards it's just that whenever I launch Reason after Launching and opening a Tracktion song it will always override the tempo in tracktion.
If the song in tracktion was set to lets say 90bpm if I then launch a reason song that set to say 120bpm it will alter the tracktion song accordingly..everytime.
Reason should be the slave not the other way round.
And yes I know the order in which to launch any rewire app.
I've got into the habit of only using the songs in reason that are exactly linked in tracktion therefore the tempos match.
It's just this way I dont get to drop in other reason songs on the fly unless I note the tempo first and then adjust it back after reason has altered it.
You see it's only when I first launch a reason song with a different tempo that it occurs after i've altered it back reason behaves as it should...
sorry if its confusing..I can live with it..i had to live with DP and its pisspoor rewire for years.
regards all

It's not confusing at all, I just wanted to know exactly what you were talking about. I hope I wasn't being too condescending while trying to figure this out.
Anyway, Rewire allows the slave to suggest a tempo to the master. It's up to the master whether to comply or not; the behavior isn't defined. So some hosts will work like Tracktion, changing the host tempo to match Reason's, while others don't (I think DP doesn't). I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug, and it was intentionally made this way.

Thanks warmonger...
I thought that locking tracktions tempo would work but the thing about the slave suggesting a tempo first seems to be how it works.
As long as I know this I can plan ahead and keep an eye on tempo's if I switch to another reason song then alter it back to the original tempo.A bit of a pain but not half as much crap as I used to deal with in DP and OS9 even with OMS emulator it was seriously flawed.
I dont know if they ever fixed it cus I did'nt upgrade to DP4 cus I found the mighty Tracktion
thanks tho.

I've used DP4 with Reason, and I assure you, Tracktion is a much better choice, as far as Rewire is concerned. I haven't tried DP3, so I'm not sure how bad it was there, but with version 4, it was a near total pain in the ass to work with. Plus, I don't like having to go into obscure dialogs and checking options just to enable Rewire in the first place.

You'd have to be seriously desperate or masochistic to use DP3 and Reason again.
I lost so much work and physically smashed the casing of an old G4 tower in frustration..mostly down to rewire bugs.
It's probably THE main reason(sic) I switched to Tracktion when I went fully OSX.
I tried everything going and have regular access to high end Logic/pro tools rigs but Traction just does it all for me.
It does still feel a little like a workround that I have to mess with tempo's but the stability of Tracktion and Reason outweighs any of that.
I dont mind I just thought it was specific bug.
Thanks for your help.
