Hmmm, you missed the poll, did you?

Over half their userbase here at RAW central are NOT happy with the way Mackie have dealt with the T2 soap opera. If I was a vendor, I'd be all over it. Huge waste of goodwill that Jules built for his product. Mackie = Boneheads.

I love Tracktion. Not fond of Mackie. Less fond of their coy little marketing tricks.
If these big boys can't figure out a semi-accurate release schedule, pricing structure, negotiate contracts and keep in touch with their most precious asset then they could end up bankrupt. Oh, wait. They already did that.

In spite of their marketing crap, not because of it, in spite of their poor customer relations, I will pay the Mackie marketing tax and upgrade to T2, boxed or unboxed because I am a happy Tracktion user. And I am an unhappy Mackie customer.

Free slogans for those Loud Tech marketing wizards...
Revolutionary. After the revolution we'll let you know about the T2 upgrade path. Maybe.

Has anyone else out there *ever* seen a hobbled demo offered for a software upgrade that is not available?

Ok, so because we had a stupid, VERY inaccurate poll, that means it MUST be true? Right? Well, I'm a VERY happy T user, and I didn't vote. I know of several T users that are VERY happy that don't even come here. Read my post again. The amount of people that come here are a VERY small percentage of the user base. And as with any forum, the majority of those who come here will be posting negatively. It's the nature of forums. The unhappy ones ALWAYS are more vocal. So that poll is completely useless. Also, how do you know how many times people voted? Really, that poll doesn't prove anything.

Mackie has done a fair job of letting us know what is to come. Beno has stated reasons, and that's all he can say.

So you think it should be EASY for Mackie to get a general schedule or release? Well, they did. And it's not unnatural to be a bit off. As a matter of fact, it's normal. And no other software that I know of has every had to deal with so many 3rd party developers, waiting for specifically coded plugs, contracts, etc. So you really can't compare this situation with any other.

So they had a plan, and there were hitches. It happens all the time in audio software production. It's not a big deal.

Let's say that Mackie decided not to announce T2 at NAMM, or make the feature reveal list, or put up thousands of dollars in ads, and they just kept quiet because they didn't know if they could hit a date. Can you imagine the crap that would have hit the fan with people complaining that Mackie won't give us any information. I've said it before, but some people will just gripe no matter what they do.

And a "hobbled demo"? Since when should they release a totally restriction free demo? That's the nature of the demo, to let you TRY the product. It only has two restrictions, what's the big deal? And at least Mackie gave us the demo, which IMO was a good jesture, since things were taking longer than planned. And yes, I've seen software release a demo before when the product wasn't available yet. And not just audio software, but other kinds also.

Nobody can claim that I don't understand, since I'm in the same situation as everyone else. But I do look at things logically. And I don't expect Mackie to be perfect. Surely everyone here would have done better, right? Yeah, sure.

Sorry if in any way this seems defensive or cruel, but some things around here lately have really got me peeved. I'm one of many, MANY happy users. I just wish people would be more realistic here.

mandolorian quoth Over half their userbase here at RAW central are NOT happy with the way Mackie have dealt with the T2 soap opera.

Incorrect. The actual statistic is that we know that just under half of the people who voted in the poll (who may or may not actually be Tracktion users) voted to say that they were happy 'with the way mackie deals with tracktions user base'... (sic)

That is a response to something which is a slightly different subject from your so-called 'T2 soap opera', and is unlikely to have been addressed by those voting as directly equivalent to that.

Furthermore, 'not happy' is not synonymous with 'unhappy'; 'not happy' in the aforementioned poll may also mean 'ambiguous', 'not sure' and 'undecided' for example, dependent on the person responding to the poll. The poll was actually very badly constructed in that sense.

Thus there is no logical way in which the results of this poll can be assumed to reflect what you claim it does.

Koolkeys: The responsibility for the roll out is Mackie's. It has proceeded in such a way as to frustrate some of us. To release the demo with a bogus unlock page and then go on vacation is not especially competant. The ads are early - I don't think they are as effective as they could have been had they coincided with the product's availability. Why am I whining? A) I want to see T succeed so that I can have a living platform to work with that I like. B) the "single-developer" charachter of T is cool - I felt that RM was cool - smart fairly priced (or better) and open and responsive. I'm going to pay and I'm going to continue to be a T user but what is wrong with criticising T's new owner when they screw something up! Its not the biggest deal in the world but still a screw-up is a screw-up and they may as well know it.

Post

I like T - but also feel that the release has been a bit of a mess (4 whatever reasons), which is fair enough I suppose. could maybe do with some updates on progress etc., dunno ... i'm likely still going to buy it - though I must profess i'm interested in seeing what project 5 v2 is like as a rewire host (though if it has the limited rewire capabilities of sonar - i wont be interested at all).

Just to be clear, the poll question was:
Whos happy with the way mackie deals with tracktions user base?
The result was:
I am: 47%
I am not: 52%
If you ask the question, "Who's happy?" and 47% say, "I am" and 52% answer, "I am not", what sort of conclusion can you draw? Sorry, if it seems ambiguous to you. Seems pretty clear to me.
Even if it is the other way round and only 47% of the userbase is not happy with the way Mackie deals with them, that is a huge problem. At least it would be to a responsive company. But feel free to defend Mackie as you deem fit. They obviously need the help!
:D

mackie must be gutted that you're not on their marketing team.. its not like they're a successful international brand name or anything :hihi:
