Succesfull? HUI is "best of breed" perhaps but the rest of the product line is no great shakes. They are struggling over crumbs w/ behringer and soundcraft over the hobbyist mixer market. Their presence in the market in which we are interested, one dominated by Yamaha, Avid, and Apple and 2nd tier players like Sony and Motu is practically nil. I have never bumped into their digital recording harware in a studio or club or a friends place. They don't have experience in this particular market (software) to speak of and if they don't manage it right T will die. How has Acuma Labs profile been since it was snapped up by Mackie?

Can I even be bothered to respond to such an assertion?
I'll just mention the industry standard HR series studio monitors (a pair of which are sounding pretty sweet in my set-up right now) and the highly succesful range of small mixers (theres a 1402 VLZ pro just to my right)..

Industry Standard monitors? In what industry? I have seen them in guitar center, but never in a studio. Tannoy, Genelec, Yamaha, Dynaudio, Westlake, auratone, JBL are the 6 brands I've seen most often. (the NS-10 being the closest thing to a standard in the industry for better or worse... And if you are liking the Mackies, do yourself a favor and try a pair of Dynaudio A6!
I've got a $200 vlz myself - and I've had various Mackie boards in the past. But they have not managed the brand well. They have given up half the prosumer mixer market that they once owned, and their early early reputation for quality I don't think has been maintined.

Why? I love listening to good mixes on my 626's, and my own mixes travel well IMO.semiquaver wrote: And if you are liking the Mackies, do yourself a favor and try a pair of Dynaudio A6!
My own mixer is great: I got it second-hand, but it's been absolutely faultless, with very good audio quality. (I don't use the EQ though: fixed freq mid-band.)semiquaver wrote:their early early reputation for quality I don't think has been maintined.
I haven't tried an Onyx yet, but I believe the audio quality is as good or better..

No. They don't need me. They got you!platinumears wrote:mackie must be gutted that you're not on their marketing team.. its not like they're a successful international brand name or anything
Mackie is a successful international brand name that has gone bankrupt before. Why? Hmmm....
And Stienberg is a successful international brand name. Does that mean I have to like it?
I'm not knocking Mackie products. Frik, it's my beloved Tracktion we're talking about here. It's not even their cute little marketing schtick. Just want to know a few simple things:
- Upgrade cost
- Upgrade process
Not a big deal. But no, months of intense contract negotiations for mainly freeware plugins is the answer to why they cannot tell us eager-to-upgrade users the cost. Who knows, maybe they were busy re-negotiating the Kyoto accord as well.
Perhaps they need to hire more lawyers and not marketeers or PR flaks.

you guys are, a b s o l u t e l y p a t h e t i c.
if it weren't for the fact that i've just got in from work and am quite tired, i'd have to get up and go fetch some tissues and cry myself dead over the agony of the lack of information. i don't think that i can cope with a company doing something that is pretty much normal. the only thing that they've done 'wrong' is leave in the "buy now" button. and even that's not wrong. we KNOW it's coming out in may. we KNOW we can't get it yet. what's the problem with the demo just being prepared for when it DOES come out? so they haven't told us stuff that they've told us they won't tell us til may. we know that already!
you guys.
are.
pathetic.
there is no other way to put it. mackie have NOT done anything wrong. i have no need to defend them, and i'm not defending them. i'm alerting you guys to the impatient whimpering sound coming from your fingers as you type.

Cool. You're not defending them. Who are you defending? You're just another pathetic whiner from a different point of view.haydxn wrote:mackie have NOT done anything wrong. i have no need to defend them, and i'm not defending them.
You think Mackie have done a wonderful job with the T2 tease / release. Some of us do not. Deal with it.
Have a good rest. In a month or so, all this whining will have become academic. But for now it's cheap entertainment, randomly interrupted with a burst of noise.

Ooops. Normal. As in Average. Ok, sorry I mentioned it.
We'll just get back to normal forum chatter then.
So anybody have any idea what the T2 upgrade cost will be?
