A great way to set up punches allows you to set pre and post roll points in addition to in and out points (how about U and P ?). The return feature now is a little tricky to control - it has a tendency to move about for one or another reason.
in any case "return" belongs with "loop" by the transport rather than under the option button.n - it needs to be toggled quite often.

I'm ducking as somebody likely is about to give me a text dope-slap...
But is what you are talking about, letting the count-in actually play any audio/midi data that exists in the count-in measures?
For some reason, in T1, if I've got a 2 measure count-in and I'm doing a punch-in - all I hear is the click track.
In my old sequencer, it would play the audio of other tracks to help you establish a 'feel' before you punched in; particularly helpful if you have a swing groove going and the metronome is just a straight tempo.
Is that what you mean by roll-in; letting a certain number of measures actually play.
If so, then I'm all for it.

its an old school setup - the tape starts rolling at the pre-roll point - punches in at the in then out at the out then plays till the post-roll then returns to the pre-roll point where you check it out and then repeat or move on.
you can pretty much do the preroll in T already just by setting the cursor somewhere and enabling the "return" feature from the options button. But it is a little flaky for a variety of reasons. DPs setup was actualy kind of sensible (for once) - they had seperate memory in and out points for looping/transport and punch in/out points.

So, all we need is a new pair of markers to appear when punch is turned on.. is that right?

If, playback gets armed at the 'i' point, and punchin occurs at a point later in the clip specified perhaps with a upper case 'I' or something.platinumears wrote:So, all we need is a new pair of markers to appear when punch is turned on.. is that right?
I just want to hear a couple measures of my song before I punch in - that simple.

What I mean is, punch-in should not use the same markers as looping, but should have it's own set that become visible only when auto-punch is enabled.

i think this is what he means, i thought it would be a kool addon the first day i started recording in T1, i would keep the markers how thay are & then if you enable punch then a new set of markers come up for you to set the punch in & out pointsplatinumears wrote:What I mean is, punch-in should not use the same markers as looping, but should have it's own set that become visible only when auto-punch is enabled.
