Folder tracks would be killer. When comping a vocal track it's really just two things I want to do. 1) Cut all the takes in every pause in the vocal track. 2) Find the "keepers". The folder track idea discussed above would be greatly improved if:

1) You could "Group"-split all the takes at once. Say you have 10 takes in a track, if you split ONE of the takes, you split them all. This will greatly save time.

2) The ability to mark each section that you want with an easy label (like a color, or texture) which makes it a keeper. The folder track could have an option "Play only 'keeper' clips" or something similar. That way one doesn't have to mute/unmute a zillion clips to hear what you want.

3) The folder tracks could also have a "render track from 'keeper' clips" function to easily dispose of the unwanted clips.

All three of these are available now with the loop record function. What if the current functions were just expanded slightly?
Make the "+" sign function available any time you have multiple clips occupying the same space replacing the "bring obscured clips to front" function which is cumbersome. This would take care of different takes not recorded in loop mode.
Then add an expand function to the tracks. You expand the track and all overlapping clips drop down into their own lanes and can be rearranged vertically by dragging like you can do with tracks. Only the takes in the selected lanes play. The top most lane is not an individual take but the root or comp. track. If this lane is selected then all of the clips below it will play.
