MIDI Editor right click

in Tracktion 1, although the midi editor isn't as sophisticated as in T2, there is still a right-mouse button menu if you click anywhere in the midi editor. however, despite this, you are still able to use the magnificent right-click-drag zoom feature without having to find an empty bit of track. the menu only pops up if you right-click without dragging.

in T2, however, you can't drag-zoom within the midi clip any more - you do have to find a spare bit of track. if you right click at all the menu just pops up.

at first i thought it was just a decision to have a menu, and that gets in the way of being able to zoom, but the fact that T1 has the menu too means that there's no reason for this behaviour. despite all the improvements in the editor, which is now fantastic, i find it so frustrating that the menu keeps popping up for me!

does this class as a bug? i can't see any reason to take out this functionality

Yeah, I've noticed this too...
I prefer to use the keyboard for choosing a midi-tool, so it would be nice if Jules could fix this!

I don't think anything is necessarily "broken", but I could be wrong. I do think maybe they ditched the old way for the new editor. But I agree, it would be nice to have the option to do this the way we prefer, either new or old, kind of like the input selectors.

Good Catch, I'd consider this a bug and I'll check with Jules.
Thanks,

sorry but what do you mean not as sophisticated? It seems about the same, all I've seen different is the annoyingly obtuse overlay and the note length lock. What else was changed?

oh dear ron. please either go to hospital now or swear to never use it as an excuse again. we're soon going to stop forgiving you.

The new midi editor is brilliant if for nothing else but the velocity functionality. Sure it isn't unique, but now it's useable. Besides the overlay, I'm totally happy with it myself.
