Yeah, and that's just getting started. With the downloadable sounds we have the opportunity to get REALLY esoteric... I mean, not as esoteric as some of the requests you've made (although we can be on the hunt for those kinds of sounds and it isn't out fo the question for us to trade or make licensing arrangements with anyone who CAN get a sample of say a Serpent wind instrumentMeffy wrote:Rare instruments from around the world? But, for now, we've got some nice ethnic winds, string and percussion instruments going up. Oooh this is going to be fun! I hope everyone embraces this and supports it so we can really go nuts with it. It is meant to really give the customer what he wants and right away too. So, let's see. Theoritically it should be the new driving business for www.esoundz.com Time will tell. Meanwhile we've got thousands of sounds waiting in line to go on line.

Great Squids. I love the concept, but there arent any sounds I don't have already. LOL
I would like to request that you put up a great Calliope sound. It's one of the few sounds in SS2 I'm disappointed with. I need something with more chiff in the attack than what I have.

Actually, the sound you hear in SS2 is a REAL calliope. Sometimes the ones with the chiff are more synthesized. But, it is possible at some point. You can really make one like that in SS2 though pretty easily if that is what you want.harmony gardens wrote:Great Squids. I love the concept, but there arent any sounds I don't have already. LOL

Thanks Squids, I'd like that. There are different Calliopes (I've had a chance to play some real ones at Circus World Museum, here in Wisconsin)Squids wrote:Actually, the sound you hear in SS2 is a REAL calliope. I didn't mean to come across that the one I have is bad, but you were asking for requests, and that's one I have. Maybe I'm just looking for some more Calliope options.

The more esoteric ethnic instruments you offer, the more I will buy.Squids wrote:Yeah, and that's just getting started. With the downloadable sounds we have the opportunity to get REALLY esoteric... I love them too.
and Dale... perhaps you'd be interesting in a virtual calliope plug-in?

LMAO,,,and Dale... perhaps you'd be interesting in a virtual calliope plug-in? Very Happy Apple's new I-Calliope should do the trick. Just kidding. Wink
Are the child presets from the original sound sets included with the downloadable sounds?

No. The ones now from the SS1 and eROMS are from the ORIGINAL sets for ST1 (so there were no child). We did that so at least it was dual compatible with ST1 and ST2. Some users out there still have ST1 to use on say Windows 98 or Mac OS9 and since those formats are or will be dropped then at least they have "some" source of sounds that were discontinued (trying to make the downloadable sounds a little different than the physical products you can buy... if you want child presets then the new Expansion Tank title is what you want).harmony gardens wrote:LMAO,,,and Dale... perhaps you'd be interesting in a virtual calliope plug-in? But, where the downloadable sounds will really make the most sense is for our thousands of SampleTank, Reason and other format customers will be able to download sounds that have never been released in that format before. That's coming this week!

Thanks Funk. We'll have a look.
So, everyone seems to like the drums eh? Interesting. Well, we'll do more drums then too. I may swap out some of the instruments that are there now for some new world instruments and percussion. Those GM ones in the beginning are the first to go (so, I guess if you want them for a few bucks you better get them before I hit the delete button... just taken from OmniSynth though). This batch is just the first one to get our feet wet. Each week there should be something new. I'll try to talk about the new sounds a bit to give them a little extra exposure and background.

I have a TON of drums, mainly from the Drum Capsule, but also ST2, and they're all very high quality, but I just can't find a particular type of kit... something perfect for heavy metal. I just can't get the slammin' ballsy sound with any of my samples. Perhaps this is due to my imcompetence at sample tweaking, I dunno. I'd be awesome if you offered a good heavy metal kit, like something you'd hear in the Drumkit From Hell plugin. Alternatively, Squids, you seem to be a genius a tweaking ST sounds, so perhaps you could tell me how to get the sound I'm after.

Also, it'd be swell if you could create some loop packages for specific styles. BPM is handy, sure, but I don't really know what kind of styles I'm getting until I dl it. Just a suggestion.

Good suggestion on the styles of the loops. Maybe that would be a better way to split them up.
Heavy metal? Well, one way would be to get the DFH. But, otherwise, you're looking at a big roomy sound and compress it pretty good. You can simulate this and get a good thing happeneing. Start with a kit that has some really bright and shimmery open hi hats and crashes. I think there's a kit on the Studio Drum Capsule called Maximum Overdrive Kit or something like that. Maximum Rock Kit? Maybe that was it. But, take that or another one with a good rock open hat. Then in ST2 first run it into a reverb and set it to a medium size. After that run it into the compressor. You might even be able to leave it at its default setting. No play that. If it doesn't kick enough metalness for you then kick it up a notch and put the limiter on the 4th slot. You can also run a Parametric EQ and pull out some good low end and make the mids crack (relative to your track).
That's a generic way to get some slammin' rock drums going. But, each song is different, each style is different. In the end you always have to use your ears anyway.
By the way, we didn't upload all of the new sounds today but we'll get them up hopefully tomorrow.
