Hi, i'm new to this forum, and new to tracktion :)

I was wandering around searching for a program to replace cubase sx 1 on my iBook, but i have a very special need and i don't know if tracktion can satisfy me, or at least i was unable to find out...let me explain.
I need to use the sequencer in a live situation, i have 2 different midi controllers connected to 2 different midi ports, what i do with cubase is to create a track for every instrument and select for every track the right input device, then with the midi filter i create split points and transpose part of the keyboaards.
I tried to do the same with tracktion but i discovered that i can only assign an input to a track, i can't assign the same input to 2 different tracks and make their vsti play together...i haven't tried any midi filter.

Can you help me please? i would like to replace cubase, i need a dongle to make it work and a dongle means an usb hub and i would not want to spend the money to upgrade to the new version, tracktion seems very good and cheap!

Grab these plugs:

NiallM's ndcMIDI Pack

These are MIDI plugs which will perform the filtering duties.

You will need to understand rack filters to split the MIDI to several destinations. Basically there are two different ways to do it:
either you can build the whole multi-synth patch inside a rack like this: (this patch uses MIDINoteRangeFilters to restrict each synth to a certain key range.)

or you can build a rack that simply connects its inputs to its outputs, and use mulitple instances on seperate tracks (as multiple rack filters will always refer to the same rack). This allows the synth stacks to be built up quickly without having to connect cables:

Cool....I thought it worked that way. So simple, so obvious, so graceful, and so easy to miss!

WoW thank you platinumears!

that's a wonderful explanation, you are a great person :D

everything is working now great! i think i will buy T2 when it's possible.

Another stupid question...you know if it's possible to open and close projects using only the keyboard? it would be faster in a live situation.
