dear sonic reality friends, this is fantastic. good job rob for assembling all this i know it's a lot of work. i might be able to start helping with some riff demos soon, maybe next week.

i think this is one of those things that will be great over time especially. there's nothing like those projects that need that ONE sound or just a few that you dont have, i've been in that situation before but thankfully not often considering the diversity of my sonic reality libraries on the mrtunes hardrive. but i know those folks have a ton of stuff down in florida just waiting to be released and sometimes you cant make an entire cd package out of just a few sounds in those categories.

i think the rare instruments is a good strategy, and if i could add maybe some live ethnic player riffs if you have some good ones in your archives those would be great compliments to products like sonik synth that dont focus on the riff side of things(for good reason).

a step in the direction im talking about is found on some more recent SR releases where you get more cymbal cresendos/timp rolls, guitar patterns, the awesome groove loops etc. so i think they would go nicely in downloadable format to fill in gaps that we cant always do well with midi programming.

also i'd like to see some cool sound effects bundles if those are also sitting in the archives. i know a ton got put into Sonik Synth 2 but i think this is one thing i can never get enough of when doing more film and interactive projects.

good job guys

Thanks for the tweak advice, Squids, I'll try it and see if I can get the sound I'm after.

A website suggestion -- two, really -- that I think would make downloadable eSoundz more appealing to owners of ST and/or SR libraries, and easier to buy.

To see what library (if any) a sound is included in, you have to go to that sound's details page, then click the "Information" tab to see library info. Since library info is already stored in your database of sounds, would it be possible to squeeze another (narrow) column into the tabular listings, showing an abbreviation for the library, or an icon? That way we could skip jumping to the detail page. It would be a lot easier to tell which samples we we already own, whether or not we recognize their names.

Alternatively, or maybe in addition: if a list of products owned is stored in our member profiles (or in a cookie, etc.), could there be an option for the listing to filter out sounds we already own, showing instead just those we'd actually be interested in buying?

Cut to the chase, as they say -- boing, you're automatically looking at stuff you'll be mroe likely to want to buy.

FWIW. :-)

Meffy,

Those are excellent suggestions and ones we will put to work. Implementing them will not be that easy (because we do not in fact store what library the sounds come from in the database), but I think it's definitely a worthwhile effort.

In the mean time, to show which library an esound comes from, just hover your mouse over the little paper icon. There's no need to go to the details page unless you want to read available reviews.

Thanks again

It'd be nice if there was a way to see if a sound has any reviews from the main list. Maybe by hovering your mouse over it or something...

I have to agree with Meffy's suggestion. Although it's not hard to "hover" over the info title (or whatver it's called) I do think it would help to be able to see clearly which library the sound comes from.
No rush......

I would like to second (or third) the motion of sound effects. More specifically, I'm more interested in ambient sounds (wind, rain, thunder, surf, waterfalls, etc.) Thanks!

Many thanks, Robert. *bow* I'll do the hover thing for now. :-)

Sound effects... I'd like those as well.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. You'll want to know right away which sounds you already have because it is part of a library in that format. As we grow this archive to be in the thousands we should have a good "filtering" process. Maybe it doesn't automatically detect which libraries you own but perhaps you could select which libraries not to include sounds from in the listing.

This initial offering of sounds to get this started is from existing libraries in ST format. But, as we move forward you'll be seeing a lot of sounds that have not yet been released in ST format and I think that this will be a great resource for our existing SR/ST userbase which is quite large.

I've got something unique in mind for Reason 3 special refills and then we've got all of the popular sampler formats to dig into (some of which haven't had much, if any, native support from us yet). But, it will be added over time. We hope to have something new each week. I haven't posted the ethnic instruments yet because I am going through them a bit and making a few tweaks.

Sound effects? Yes, I agree and we're working on something special there.

There's also some really cool orchestral fx, loops, phrases, vocals and performance elements (like cymbal swells for example). In fact, this will be a great outlet for the "MISC" things that are sometimes the "glue" for your track or just that missing piece you needed. Maybe something quirky, something unusual or something you have difficulty doing on your own... We're into making this a service to users of popular sampler formats.

That would be extremely helpful.

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

What about the sounds that appeared on the holiday capsule? Are any sounds flagged as appearing in that collection? Just trying to prevent double-ups :)

Vorn.
