trying to use T2, pissed off at midi overlay

Ben, while we're on the topic, how about getting the double click the track name to minimise/maximise it tidied up? Currently in T2 if the midi keyboard is viewable, you can't double click the track to resize it, you need to use the Z shortcut. This used to work in T1, and is obviously another wee bug. If that, the right click to zoom when over the midi editing bit (comes in handy on a laptop with a touchpad and no scrolly mouse) and the option to hide the midi toolbar were all implemented, midi editing would be almost perfect.
What would make it perfect, i hear you say? The option to have a midi track you double click to edit assume focus. When working on smaller resolution screens (1024 etc), if you have about eight tracks on screen, and the bottom one is a midi track, if you double click it, it expands, but half of it appears off-screen. So you need to vertically scroll down to edit it.
I'd love an option to double click the track, and if the bottom of the midi edit would appear off screen, the screen scrolls down automatically to ensure it's all viewable. Then when you double click to shrink again, the screen re-arranges to how it was previously.
Like most of these things, this is probably easier to try, than to explain on a forum.

YESSSSSSS!!! BUT cursor shouldn't jump if you're tweaking a note.Lunch Money wrote: What DOES need to be fixed though is simple clicking in a MIDI track in order to position the cursor.

Gotcha mate. But that's just not how i got used to working with T1 ...Lunch Money wrote:As I've already stated-- you just need to double-click in the filter area instead of on the track.

another trick I use is to keep a track called [SPACER] with nothing on it beneath the track I'm currently working on. I shift it around as needed. Makes grabbing the current position marker when needed a lot easier.

That does not change that it may be a bug that you cannot double click on the track. If it is not a bug, it is confusing because you can double click to enlarge the track but not to shrink it again.Lunch Money wrote:As I've already stated-- you just need to double-click in the filter area instead of on the track.
Another bug report: On Mac, when editing midi notes, the undo key command does not work. I have to click the undo button.

quibble: an Undo button is a quirk. There is not a computer user in the world who doesn't know the default keystroke for "undo". surely there is a better use for this real estate! Moreover the traditional undo menu item on mac displays the action to be undone and is greyed out when there is nothing to undo. So we spend a little space to lose a little functionality.

I didn't say it wasn't a bug. I actually agreed that it was.pdxindy wrote:That does not change that it may be a bug that you cannot double click on the track. There are millions. Then add to that the people that don't realise it is a global standard, and assume it is specific to the software they learnt it on..semiquaver wrote: an Undo button is a quirk. There is not a computer user in the world who doesn't know the default keystroke for "undo".
