I'd like to be able to drag the note length from the front of the note, as well as the back of the note. However, if that made the note too hard to grab and move, maybe it would be better off to leave as is.

btw, if you have an aftertouch keyboard and are playing a vsti that responds to aftertouch, it works in T, but of course no midi data is recorded. So best to disable Aftertouch otherwise what you play is not what you record to midi tracks.

me too. how about option click for length change?

just voicing an opinion.. if something like this is implemented, it should just be a flat out option. I prefer it just as it is.. and would definately not want to hold a modifier key to alter note lengths.

fair enough ModuLR - I think the design point though is that editing should be uniform: ie modes for editing clips and notes should be similar. So if a clip can be moved or trimmed, there is no reasom a note shuldn't be able to be moved or trimmed. Another reason for access to the start of a note is that notes can be long and having to move the note then scroll to the end to fix it is a pain.

So the only problem is an interface problem: since notes are often small finding a way to access either the start or the "middle" (for placement) can be tricky. My suggestion (of a modifier key) is not elegant granted. But neither are proliferating options a good thing. Perhaps there is a natural solution.

I hear ya. T1 did provides that ability, and at the same time it is responsible for part of it's fiddly feel... especially when you have a problem simply grabbing a note because it wants you to extend it on either end. A modifier would work (provided there are any even available), but then it has to be logically applied to extended the backend as well... no? and I think it's totally unnatural to use a modifer to simply extend the length of a note. Look at every piano roll out there... they typically extend from the right side only.

I think Logic allows the left side to be moved too..? It took me a bit of getting used to coming from Cubase.. but it seems I managed it cos I also slightly miss being able to resize from either end!

but logic is made by Apple! :hihi:

BTW, I guess it's where you are coming from a well. I do a lot of drum stuff, which means small lengths.. and it's painful with it resizing on both ends. Thus an option seems the most fair.

maby a mod key to change note lenth from the start, but leave the rest as it is?

Personally, I would like to be able to manipulate note-lengths with hot-keys: I have Cubase VST set up with keys to nudge notes left or right, up or down in semitones (with a modifier for octaves) and to double / halve note-lengths (with a modifier to mulitply / divide lengths by 1.5 instead). Combine this with the number keys 1-8 setting snap & quantise values, and I hardly need to touch the mouse..

.. obviously that last bit isn't true or i wouldn't be getting these searing pains & cramps in my right wrist  but think how much worse it would be without those key-bindings..

I often modify the beginning of notes to add humanization. I kind of miss T1's way of entering notes, to be honest. <laff>

I stand alone... :hihi: I still hope if it changes it's an option of sorts, or something thought out such that small notes don't become a pita.
