:help:

Hi,

I'm trying to solve the bug i'm facing for months with Traktion AND Proteus x.
Pardon my english as I'm french, I'm trying to explain this very simple thing:

1. No problem using "render" whith any VSTi but Proteus x.
2. Using Proteus x in Traktion works fine to play.
3. The problem occurs when I render tracks containing Proteus x.

The error message dipatched says:" streaming engine can not be initialized"

I made every updates possible to Proteus x.

Now I am very disapointed. Any help will be very appreciate, since I tried to solve this problem with E-mu support whithout success...

try using "export" instead, but with "only render selected tracks" and "render at 1x play speed" checked.. some plugs don't like being rendered faster than real-time.

(Just a guess btw: I don't have Proteus X)

<edit> you will need to re-import the result manually of course..

Doesn't the proteus X run off of a dsp card or something, a bit like uad & creamware plugs? If so try as platinumears advises above &/or if you have a multi in-out card send the proteus track to one destination (e.g. asio1) & then use that asio1 as the input for another track & record the audio to that 2nd track maybe.

I'm using the e-mu 0404 "patchmix DSP" with no ease but I'll try asap and let you know... Hope it will work !

ok in your list of inputs into Tracktion you will find the inputs mix l & mix r , make shure thease are set to stereo in Tracktion,

that input will send whatever comes out of patch mix dsp to that input on Tracktion,
so solo the track you want to record then record the mix l\r input

P.S I never use my emulator x! it gives me nothing but problems, also haveing big problems with the emu power fx

Post

Well. I succeeded in recording the Emu X track through asio send / input but it sounds very poor (no gain at all) or I had once the following message: "The device PCIcard in L(1+2) never reach the trigger set for recording (-43.00 db)".
I going to get me a dictionnary to chek what trigger means ! In my mind it was the little thing you use to fire a gun. Looks like I'm going to use one to my Proteus x retailer soon...

AS far as render is concerned, I made it work once, then never again (and I even have now a brand new PC to test with... still crap).

The moral with Emulator X is you've got lots more than what you paid for, but you should have gone for a harware sampler though. :(

Thank you guys for your help: the most important for me beeing to record, whatever the way to do it, I am finally able to use Proteux X in my songs thanks to your advises, especially the "mixdown Px to another track" one...
But I can't understand why the f... each free VST I use works well using the "render" function, and Proteus X, which I bought, doesn't.
Emu support ask me to test in the bundled cubasis I get but I will ever prefer throw Proteus x away than wasting my time trying to understand how this Cubasis works...

I have to admit I have the same issue : I never liked Cubase, and switching back to Sonar now that I'm tracktioned only to have some use for the Ex seems a grat deal to me.
elephant, how is it going with the mixdown? any timing issue?

Dose the timing on your emu x swing like a mother f**ker aswell?

When I play more than 4 tracks at the same time, yes, many timing issues.
Crappy soft, but soo powerful. I was tinkering with the filters and home made banks this night, and my, I really have to make this synth work...

sorry for digging up old threads... but i had this same error recently and after much wasted time managed to find a fix.

It seems that I would always get the "streaming engine failed to initialise" error when Proteus couldn't detect the emu hardware that it uses as a dongle. In my case the XBoard49. For example, i'd get it when i had the keyboard powered off and tried to render(only ever happens on render or export, the rest of the time it works fine)
Anyway, it started happening even when the keyboard was switched on. Turns out that somehow, in windows, my Xboard had started using the default microsoft "USB Audio device" driver, and not the emu one. In hindsight, i did notice a few months ago that my midi input in tracktion had changed from "Xboard49" to "USB audio device"... but since it continued to work normally i didn't think anything of it. No idea how this happend, and although the manual for the xboard actually describes the problem and how to fix it, it mentions nothing of what might cause it. I wish the error message could have been something more helpful like "can't detect Emu hardware"...

So, not sure if this helps if you don't use an xboard as a "dongle", but i just thought i'd share anyway :)

I'll have to check that out with my ProteusX and E-Mu 0404. I'd been using another MIDI interface that was already installed when I got the Proteus, but since have had to re-arrange the room and moved over to the 0404's MIDI. I'd used TapeIt as a work-around for the rendering issue, but will have to see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks, Daniel, for a good pointer.
