Absolutely love this progran....I've already started using it on several projects.
So ...Can you mute individual clips on a track? Can't seem to find a way,and it seems like a basic feature.
I hope this program is gonna be downloadable for everyone ...here in Spain it could be next year before it's in the shops!!

It seems that mute clips is not added to T2, but this nice guy made a plugin to mute audio clips & regions : http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=84152

[disclaimer: haven't tried it out yet]

..you can also put a simple Volume filter on the clip and set it to zero...

Or use the built in volume slider for the audio clip (found in the clip properties) to mute it.

You could do it like this in future versions of T2 :D

Just add a button in the title bar of the selected clip for toggling between gain -INF and current value.

We must have (mute) automation on filters and tracks somewhere in the near future...

Post

You can automate the mute button for Vol / Pan filters. The only problem is, as it simply writes normal volume automation, it can't be linked to a seperate MIDI controller using the mapping options.

Post

the only downside to using the sliders on the clips for muting is that you have to remember what they were set to when you 'unmute' them. almost all my clips have always got some kind of tweak to that parameter.

still, i guess that encourages change at least! :)
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Vol / Pan filters have "Mute" buttons.. these do remember what the volume what set to before muting..

Post

yup they do! but the clip's own vol doesn't :)

the most important thing is the clips should change colour automatically when muted :P

I know, but nevertheless, I consider this as a "workaround" for clip-mute. It's much easier to click an icon on the clip itself instead of activating the assigned clip-filter. Besides of the (negligible) extra mouseclick, gain of the audioclip and additonal volume control of the vol/pan-filter aren't the same! Especially for vocals, I do the mix-control for single vocal snippets with the gain control. And having a vol/pan filter on EACH clip simply for its mute feature is like breaking a fly on the wheel.

I was actually responding to this:

.. nothing to do with muting clips. ;)

Post

Oh, sorry then... but I still believe I'm right! ;)

I disagree with the term 'workaround', though. The function is inherent in Tracktion. Sure, there are ways it could work better, but that doesn't make the existing method a 'workaround'.
