i have purchased a kompakt license for use on receptor. in order to access the NI support pages, i need to register and authenticate the software. the described authorization process assumes a pc installation.
what is the correct process?
as an alternate, is it possible to get a crossgrade license for the pc assuming i purchased the receptor license first?

has any progress been made on sorting out the licensing and crossgrade issues when purchasing the software through plugorama? obviously, this could have an affect on any plugorama purchases, not just kompakt.

I asked Native for similar questions and this was the answer I have received which will be useful not only for you but the remain users of Receptor.
Q: What\'s \'Receptor\'?
A: Receptor is a 2 units rack mountable multi-timbral sound and
effect module that runs VST instruments and effects.
In other words: It\'s one of the first embedded systems for
VSTi Effects and Instruments, it\'s based on Linux and runs PC
VST only.
Further information about Receptor can be found on www.museresearch.com
Q: Which NI-Plugins work on Receptor?
A: At the moment special \'Receptor\' Versions of Pro-53, B4, Kompakt and Fm7. It’s the plan to get other NI products running on Receptor for next year.
Q: How can I get these special \'receptor\' Plugins?
A: Only via download from www.plugorama.com.
Q: How much do the NI Plugins costs?
A: Pro 53, FM7 and B4 receptor plugins are a little cheaper as the regular versions (because there is no packaging involved).
FM7: $299
Pro53: $199
B4: $199
But: There is a special offer for Receptor Users: Kompakt: $99
Q: Can I run my normal NI-VST Plugins on Receptor or vice versa?
A: No. Although it is almost identical to PC-VST Plugins it is a separate
platform because of the proprietary copy protection mechanism (Dongle) and special performance issues.
It\'s also not possible to run receptor plugins on a regular PC.
Q: What about crossgrades from and to ‘regular’ NI products to ‘Receptor’ Versions?
A: All crossgrades costs $29 regardless in which direction and which product.
So, if you are a registered FM7 customer a receptor version costs $29.
If you own a Receptor version and you want to crossgrade to a regular Versions it does also cost $29.
Q: What do I have to do to get the crossgrades
A: (preliminary information) For NI->Muse Research Crossgrades Please contact Muse Research. For Muse Research->NI Crossgrades please contact Native Instruments (via phone or sales@native-instruments.de). (detailed description will follow this week, in the future we will make an automated process if necessary )
Q: How do I install the Plugins?
A: All NI products are pre-installed and can be run for 30 days. After the
expiration date you have to activate the products.
Q: What about the Kompakt Library? Do I also have to download it?
A: No. The complete Kompakt library is pre-installed.
Q: Who is responsible for the support?
A: First level support by Muse Research

on another note, the countdown for namm 2005 is on! i'll be there on thursday? will muse have a booth? any chance the 1.0.1 update will be available by then?

Yes and yes. Muse has a booth at NAMM and 1.1 (the update formerly known as 1.0.1) will be shipping by then. We will be demo'ing 1.2, which includes ADAT outputs and other goodies.SoftJunkie wrote:on another note, the countdown for namm 2005 is on! i'll be there on thursday? will muse have a booth? any chance the 1.0.1 update will be available by then?

Rick,
the thing is, is the hardware suited to be used sampler player? Its not just about getting kontakt player to run, the question is whether the receptor gets at least equally as many voices as a computer costing the same.
Did you recieve my mail (the one I sent as a followup to your reply in the customizability thread where you advised me to email you with further questions)?
