anyone tried the harmoniEQ ?

I just got the HarmoniEQ and am learning to use it as both a track effect and as a master effect. It is definitely sweet (lush is maybe a better word), but, of course, it depends on what you are pumping through it which is what I am experimenting with now. I think it is going to be an excellent sound design tool. All these Voxengo plugs are great.

I love Kjaerhus, but the Classic Series EQ is very vanilla. Which is fine for some things, actually, and I DO bust it out at times.

I'm mainly using SpinEQ and FreEQ Boy, though.

Noticed this, passing through...

I always liked the Tracktion EQ for "quick 'n' dirty" tone controls, but found its controls fiddly for doing anything more serious. For example, if you want to ensure that a flute and a clarinet don't fall over each other in a mix, you need to notch some more specific frequencies than is easy to do in the T eq, or for that matter nyquist.

A couple have already mentioned the Kjaerhus Golen EQ GEQ1. I own that beauty, and I have to say it is very nice indeed. I bought it during the KVR group buy of the golden bundle (along with the Golden COmpressor and Modulator), but at its full price it is also worth every penny. The Golden plugs are all really top-draw. All of them have a lovely analogue glow to them 8)

You need to play with the demo if you have not already done so, and then you will realise why it is worth leaving the Tracktion and the nyquist eq etc behind and going for something higher spec.
Lastly, while you're at it, demo the newly released Golden Audio Channel, which has two stages of EQ and compression, as well as a deesser. Different I know, and a bit pricey, but WOW. I'm saving up for that one next!

Ron: the CPU hit on GEQ1 is very small. In fact all the Golden plugs are very CPU efficient compared to others I demoed (for example the Voxengo ones, which are also nice, though).

my preferred EQs for 'polished' working are eqiuum on channels and firium on the master (although i also have an underused glissEQ and the filterscape Q6 is getting an increasing look in) ...

... but i use the native T EQ quite a lot for quick-n-dirty work and (unlike a few people here by the looks of it) i REALLY like the interface on it ...

equim would be my everyday-everychannel choice regarding cpu usage and flexebility, otherwise sonalksis is the best sounding but much to expensive, and you can allways go for voxengo plugins, they are all very good. that would have been the perfect t2 bundle, t2 and voxengo :)

They are not worse than most other EQs.
can you hear quality differences when comparing against pay-ware eqalizer?
You can hear the differences easily, by boosting the treble.
But don't follow the shown values strictly when matching EQs - use the same values as starting point and then adjust them by your ears until they sound as similar as possible. You will notice, that they create a different sound, no matter how hard you try to match the sound.
The more appropriate EQ will at least create a better "feeling", if the differences are subtle between the EQs. If the differences are greater, then you will hear it's harshness directly.
You also can identify bad EQs, if you simply can't get the sound, you're after, while the good one creates it magically with a few tweaks.
Oh, and good EQs have IMO less problems with higher Q values, too.

I have very good experiences with the Sonalksis EQ and the Waves Q10 as workhorse because of it's 10 bands.
can you hear aliasing?
Why should there be aliasing caused by EQs? There is no resampling taking place.

I like T's little 4 band eq's, I use them alot, together with, kajerhaus classic, voxengo ess eq, and slim slow slider,

T's chorus also gets my pick.

Post

I like slim slow slider too - a decent if ugly dontaionware alternative to firium.

Post

Slim slow slider are a little heavy on the juice, and kinda clunky, but I like 'em

Anyone tried NWEQ, its a .exe install, I prefer dlls myself,...drag 'em in, drag 'em out.
