A perfect anechoic chamber returns absolutely zero reflections, so this would essentially be an impulse of nothing, or very close to nothing. That reminds me of that old April fools joke - the "anechoic chamber simulator".plastique wrote:would it work if you send the impulse file of an anechoic chamber (they exist) to the outboard device and record the output back into the recording app or is there something substantially missing in this consideration ?
I don't doubt somebody has made an impulse of one - possibly as a joke. If real, what it would actually be is mainly an impulse of the mic (which we hope would be a very flat reference mic), and any residual echos would be a measure of how imperfect the anechoic chamber really was. I would expect at most some muddy, boomy bass reflections being the major nodes of the chamber. So basically, nothing or yucky mud. I would prefer to use the "anechoic chamber simulator" for a more perfect nothing.
