I've got the Dimarzio Virtual Vintage in my Strat. They sound pretty nice and have like *zero* noise. My Luthier recommended them and has them in his own Strat. Probably the best bang for the buck as I got 2 of them for $150 installed (keep in mind these are NYC prices).Sascha Franck wrote:Those Kinman PUs are looking great... but I better keep myself away from looking at the prices.
If you read reviews on Harmony Central, the Kinmans are where it's at if you have the cash. But I read somewhere that Seymour Dunkin is releasing replacement Strat pickups soon. I'd definitely keep an eye on that if I were shopping for Strat pups!
Anyway, I hated them noisy strat tex-mex pups especially if you run direct! They would just amplify any ground hum from my DAW like 20x. Forget about shielding, just change the pups - Single best mod I had done to my Strat!

Hey Midiworks,
How your ampsim is doing in hi-gain department? If you remeber we spoke about it couple of months ago. Think Rammstein or basicaly any modern metal/nu-metal band with that chugga-chugga kick rythm sound. I would like to send you a short mp3 clip but it is too complicated here with my lousy 56k modem.
Cheers

Hi there,
I just heard some of the demoe mp3 and I'm really impressed. I didn't take the time to wade through all 27 pages of this thread
so this might be the everyday question: When and how much? I'm also interested in Nu metal sounds. How many different "channels" does this plugin have? You know, I just want to know it all.
Thanx in advance, rawcan

Here we go.
Guitar Rig sample (taken from NI forum)

Not quite chugga-chugga but it shows direction.

OK,
I didn't read through all 27 pages here. Has anyone pointed out the guitar construction kit over at audioshots auditorium? All clean Squier strat copy sounds, if I recall correctly. Its in SoundFont format, so you can 'play' the strat with something like sfz - route that into your amp sim, and see what pops out.
Here's the link to the soundfont thread and the sf itself at audioshots:
http://audioshots.com/auditorium/viewtopic.php?t=154
No chugga chugga sounds, but other stuff that you can make use of.

Uhh, a 35mb zip...
Why they dont use SFPACK and than RAR the sf2 ?
That saves around 50%...
Just started to DL the mp3, yes not that bad.
I only wonder why I could not set up a sound like this with Guitar Rig... !?
Anyway, EVERYBODY can get a sound like that out of my amp easily.
There are no magic tricks to be used !

Any release date yet Midiworks? The people are getting restless
For ACDC type guitar sound nothing beats the Saro plugin along with a good speaker simulation.

As I said before, when I am 100% happy, mondo tormento wrote:Any release date yet Midiworks? The people are getting restlessFor ACDC type guitar sound nothing beats the Saro plugin along with a good speaker simulation.
then there will be the release.
Today I created a few new speaker models,
based around the ones from the demos.
The results are more than amazing !
atm a new EQ is in work,
that will bring cpu further down hopefully.
So, everybody will profit from that long wait.
I must say, without all the help from you great people here at KVR,
there would be no amp at all.
Thank you all for your great support !

OK here's what I can do to help:
http://www.show.gr/zeoy/stang.mp3
http://www.show.gr/zeoy/pride.mp3
http://www.show.gr/zeoy/riviera.mp3
These tracks are recorded using a Tokai AST-56 Strat replica tuned a half tone down using a set of 11 sized (not 13 as SRV ...) GHS Boomers.
Recording chain was Guitar->M-audio Audiobuddy preamp-> Audiophile 2496->Tracktion (24 bit wavs).
Conversion with audacity+lame 256Kbps stereo (sorry for that) mp3's
I tried to minimize noise in the recordings but there is still some.
A few words about the tracks:
*stang is the main part of SRVs "stang swang" played with neck pick-up
*pride is the intro (not-exactly) of SRVs "pride and joy" played with bridge pick-up
*riviera is the main theme of SRVs "riviera paradise" played with neck+middle pickup combination (no tremolo bar though... couldn't find it)
Sorry for a few mistakes in my playing but my fingers didn't follow my brain as they should (long time no practise).
I hope they can be used to demonstrate how your plugin works with semi clean settings.
Cheers
