Big companies are social systems.

Systems only care about their won survival. They may have some beautiful official agenda (e.g. serving the customers) but they don't really care. They see the world around them in terms of opportunities for short term profit. Short term only.

Multinationals have more power than many governments. They don't get elected though. And the mob is buying them up.

If things keep going the way they do we will end up in a worldwide corporate dictatorship. Any opposition will be quite profitable for the corporate owned prisons.

So how exactly is this is a change from how its always been ?

i think freehand will be killed; fireworks will get an adobe makeover and be even more tightly web-orientated. i don't think photoshop or illustrator will change at all. maybe adobe will kill their own weak flash-wannabe, and perhaps even drop go-live in favour of fireworks.

be interesting to see the next update cycle.

they'll have to change their stationery, merchandising, website etc.

Well I seriously don't see a specific link between Adobe aquiring Macromedia and the American "occupation" of Iraq, no. Nor do I think that Adobe are directly responsible for the existence of world poverty.

I am willing to believe, though, that in a former life you were abducted by aliens and given a brain implant :P
In general, as a species we have got it wrong.
Well, you certainly have
Are you suggesting that this happened all by itself?
No. But then again, I'm not suggesting that Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia is to blame either.
Or don't you want to enter the real world, admit things are wrong and try to make the world better?
Why so quick to judge? You've never met me and have no idea about the numerous charity projects I am involved with, or how I spend my money.

The last centuries have seen a succesful struggle or more rights, democracy and social justice.

Now the tide is turning.

We have much more to loose than we are aware of.

I'm glad I bought Adobe Audition in that case.

When Adobe's private army take over the world and deprive us all of our civil rights, democracy and social justice, I for one don't want to have my genitals wired up to electrodes as a punishment for buying WaveLab.

If the whole world is run by corporations, and we're all slaves to those corporations, how exactly will they make any profits?

- corporations don't have a use for everyone anymore, as in the days of the industrial revolution.
they employ who they have to employ to stay in business, they don't care at all for all the others.

Only use the economy has for less educated people is getting paid for having them locked up in prison.

No slaves, just jobs for highly qualified people, McJobs, and unemployment or prison for many others.

- there isn't a single company that looks farther ahead then 5 years... just like many bacteria who kill themselves off by their own excrements...

Systems have only ONE LOGIC: their own short term survival.

Yes thats true. I wasn't putting you down or anything you believe in or do.
I'm trying to point out that there is a link. Perhaps not a direct one but a link none the less.
The western worlds social system doesn't work. If it did all the worlds big earners and rich companies would use their money for the good of all.
@whyterabbyt Why should they make profits? If everything everyone did was for the good of all they wouldn't need profits.......
... no time for unnecessary politeness nor a debate ...

... you might not care but some members are actually human with feelings and stuff you know ???

There are so many holes in that 'logic' that its laughable.

Who pays for the prisons and the unemployed if the companies run everything. Why would a company pay its emnployees to spend money with its competitors? How do large multinationals take over every single niche wiping out all smaller businesses?

Its cobblers, mate. You been reading too much third-rate Alvin Toffler rehashes.

That's a very big if, which completely ignores the reality of human, and all other, existence. Global altruism is not just unlikely, its impossible.

- lots of prisons in the US are corporate
the corps involved get paid by the government
they have a direct intrest in having people jailed.

- Who's boss in the White House? Bush...
Who paid his campaign?

How can a smart guy like you be so naive?

The facts are simple: political power is shifting to the corporations, the corp's themselves admit to not thinking more than 5 years ahead, the mob gets rich over the drug war and buys up the corp's.... Never heard of Toffler, I just read the papers...
