FR: F4 change

Instead of having F4 just zoom to the clip and having it display the clip centered on the screen with the same horizontal zoom it had when hitting F4, how about having it actually zoom into the clip and show it at it's largest displayable size? This would be great when working with the midi editor.

Yes, absolutely!
The only time I ever use F4 is to zoom in on a MIDI clip that I'm going to open up manually anyway. So having the MIDI editor available when you press F4 would be a great idea imho.

Instead of changing the operation, I would rather simply add another key command for it.

Sure, that would work. Only thing is, I don't have much use for F4 as it is. It would be really useful and not needing a modifier would be nice.Beno wrote:Instead of changing the operation, I would rather simply add another key command for it.

Well with T2 you can change key commands as you see fit. I would probably make it CTRL+F4 by default as I don't want to change any defaults (note that virtually no defaults changed from T1 to T2). From there you can easily remap them as you want.

Cool. So is it officially a FR?Beno wrote:Well with T2 you can change key commands as you see fit. I would probably make it CTRL+F4 by default as I don't want to change any defaults (note that virtually no defaults changed from T1 to T2). From there you can easily remap them as you want.

I've found that zooming is most important when editing midi clips... So commands that essentially help enlarge and center (within the active screen area) midi clips are potentially a way to improve midi editing itself! I'd like to see some of the commands like F5 and F4 be dedicated to just that task... I've found if I keep my drum clips 2 bars and focused on the screen (large) the midi editor works well... But less so, when not at that optimum size and position...

You know what else might be nice? Have a key command that zooms the grid to resize based on the lowest and highest notes entered, so you don't have to scroll to find your work.
