as long as it stays within the "clips" area its ok - but the bottom of the creen should remain reserved for buttons and object info. one of the beauties of T is you alwaays know where to look for info.

HI
As someone said to me when I stated I couldn't see the whole of the vst GUI of Virsyn Tera in a host "why not turn the screen resolution up from 800x600 to 1024x768?" - my point being some people may want things to stay the same - others might want to move foward.
But my thoughts about dual monitors is that you have SCREEN REALESTATE that wasn't there a few years ago - so lets use it.
I like Tracktion a lot, but the thought of losing a single page view that is of no use on anything but a single monitor - in this day is perhaps at best an oversight, no? now if some one said lets have the GUI redesigned to be optimal at a resolution of 1280x1024 or beyond so as to make using it with a 40" monitor then great, but that is not likely.
Thats pretty well my view, I can see (Hear) there are a few people who feel very concerned by my thoughts - I hope for your sakes the dev doesn't introduce screen sets - it could cause a missed heart beat

If T can be tweaked to make use of a 2nd monitor somehow ok...
With DP I was tempted to buy a 2nd monitor so that I wouldn't have to be constantly shuttling betwen screensets. There was also the somewhat sickening problem of having to keep track mentally of where everything was - when looking at tracks you don't see the signal path - when looking at the mixer you don't see the clips - when looking at the arrange view you don't see the clip names... etc etc etc.
In T I have never felt the slightest bit cramped (1280 x 1024) - the only thing I could think of to use a 2nd monitor for would be for locked vsti guis (would be useful actually). And I never have to struggle to remember whats happening - just zoom out and youre done.
So you're right - the day T introduced window sets it would all be over. I don't want to spend my life managing the configuration of my goddamned DAW - that's what I want to pay a developer for! T is like a well designed hardware unit in someways - stuff is where it belongs and stays there. phew..

I run at 1280 x 1024: Tracktion's GUI re-scales itself to fit perfectly.original flipper wrote: now if some one said lets have the GUI redesigned to be optimal at a resolution of 1280x1024 or beyond

HI
I have 2x19" TFTs and I run at the higher res, but tbh even with my good eyesight I think larger monitors would help in getting a clearer view of some of the increasingly detailed gui's that some vsts have.
I don't use video and the new Quick time (?) features are of no use to me, now as long as this feature does not hinder my use of T2 then I have no problem, now if a mixer page was thrown in that graphically mimicked a nice SSL console along with all the other things that are currently already availabe like volume, racks ect I wouldn't give an iota - as long as it doesn't interfere with the basic premise of what T2 is - I think if the program develops with this in mind why should people feel threaterned?
You would either use a feature or not, just like in REASON, if you want to detach the Piano-Roll you click on a button and can drag it onto another monitor, why should this be a problem for even die hards?

Exactly. With Cubase, and then SX, I had to have two monitors, 1 for the sequencer, the second for the mixer and vst/intrument rack and cpu usage. Imagine that! What a waste. I prefer the one screen aproach that T offers. Especially now that you can hide the filters and inputs.semiquaver wrote:

I have no problem with this feature as long as I wouldn't HAVE to use it; I don't see how it could be done the way things are now though, as the midi editor is the midi clip so if you were to grab it and move it you'd actually move the midi data. In practice I think it would be difficult to implement without changing the basic nature of Tracktion workflow, but I've been proven wrong many times before.original flipper wrote:

Oh, and I'm running 1360x1024 resolution and I'm still lacking screen estate sometime, but I'm not sure this is the way to go to gain some.

Flipper - why not use the 2nd screen to park your vstis - that would be sweet I would think.

HI
I do put my vst's on the second monitor, the problem is as soon as you click on another track it dissapears into thin air!
It would be nice if they stayed put!
