A bit of history: a classic Cubase feature was the "mixer map". this allowed a user-defined screen-full of virtual knobs & sliders to be assigned different MIDI messages (anything from simple controllers to complex sysex) which could be sent to any MIDI destination.
These controllers could be automated (admittedly, in the god-awful classic Cubase style of automation
I used one to automate the mixer on my VS880 for a while, and later on I would make maps that corresponded to my SynC Modular ensembles.. (SM doesn't respond to VST automation at all)
.. I was seriously annoyed when mixer-maps were left out of SX.
So how about we have something similar, which can be shown / hidden in a similar manner to the current racks, and in which your created controllers can be used to control internal parameters as well as send MIDI messages?
If this were combined with proper template features it could be used to build the perfect mixer display(s) for each individual user, and could also offer a way to implement the "VCA groups" mentioned in another thread..
.. thoughts?
