first thing people fall over is: you need a master container before you can export as a VST.. it is the I/O of this main container that defines the I/O of the exported plug. Synthedit's Audio & MIDI I/O should be outside the main container, as these functions will be handled by the host.
eg, for a synth:

and for an effect:

and all the actual action (eg, my IQ4pro screenshot above) happens inside the "Crappy 2-Osc VA Synth" and "TarnceGait" containers..

Depends what you mean by simple..
you might want to investigate the peak follower module (modifiers menu) for your hisser thing.. white noise is available fom a standard Oscilator module.. chuck in a VCA for dB volume control, and a few knobs and sliders, and play around!
one of the nice things about Synthedit is that all the standard built-in modules follow a 1 Volt/Octave voltage scale: the useful range for most signals will be between 0 and 10, or sometimes -5 and 5, so semi-random cabling while smoking carpet-weed tends to produce more interesting results than with SynC Modular, or probably Reaktor (if i could afford to find out.

A warm glowing feeling?djsubject wrote:ps what will i lose by not registering?
Until you buy Jeff a few drinks, all your exported plugs will only have 16 presets and IIRC only the first stereo pair of your ASIO I/O will work (this only affects you while building it in SE of course).. also in certain hosts your plug will show up with a generic "Synthedit" in the name instead of "DJSubject" or whatever name you registered under.
