I would like to be able to grab/copy/drag/delete midi notes without opening the piano roll. I can see them and it would be handy to just grab them without having to jiggle the screeen around.

Post

If you can see the notes, but the piano roll is not open, what are the notes on?

I mean the skinny lines in the midi clips in the arrange window.

Post

but how do you know the keys of the skinny lines?

Post

if its a bassline for example its clear what note it is. Likewise with most parts other than complicated piano parts... If I want to delete it or copy it or scoot it now I have to open up the track - I just don't see why thats necessary - seems contrary to Ts wyswyg deal to have to open it up before you edit it.

Post

the delete thing sounds good,

but the rest just sounds like that ugly reason editor (sort of!)

:)

Post

Oh, please, don't mention that ugly reason editor. :scared: I still have nightmares...

the only good thing i can rember about reason is it helped me to lern to compose on the keyboard, becouse i would not go in to that midi editor unles it was the only option left (& thats after asking one of the guys from another studio i know to play that bit for me :hihi:)

but having said that i'm stil realy shit at composing :(

maby i should have made reason my main app after all

i don't see how it could let you move those notes when really you can't see where they are, they're just thin lines. how would you grab them instead of the clip? what if you just wanted to grab the clip but instead ended up moving some notes around? just click the clip and press Z to go inside it and Z again to come back out.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
