There's an intermittent beeping tone that pretty much renders this current version unuseable.

Oh, I know. Was just explaining to snooky one of the most obvious limitations on this release.Aleksey Vaneev wrote:Lazlo, it is a demo limitation.

in an alpha release? why so nervous Aleksey? Atleast let us test your new ideas properly without all kinds of beeps and cutbacks. Really, I'm quite shure that the final release is going to have more features anyways,(well, if you're serious with this plug) so does it matter if the alpha gets out on the net?Lazlo Minimart wrote:There's an intermittent beeping tone that pretty much renders this current version unuseable.

More tweaking required before I can offer suggestions for improvement. Honestly, so far I like it "as is".

hi aleksey,
after finally checking out your plugin i'm sorry to say that i can't really find a use for it, at least not for making my kicks any punchier. my biggest problem with it is lack of control over the distortion. even with disabled distortion and strength at 10% the sound initially gets blown which i don't really refer as punchy. i tried many settings but never really achieved a pleasant result.
regarding your description i expected a plugin that does something like this:

bassdrum dry
bassdrum processed (*slightly overdosed*:))
that setup wrapped into an effect that lets the user define compression ratio (maybe 3 different attack & release setups), eq center & strength as well as limiting strength would be superb. this kind of bassdrum is pretty familar in the techno world but needs a lot of try & fail as well as finding the right effect components that fit each other. i'd highly encourage such an effect since it would save me a lot of screen space and others many frustrating hours finding a good receipe
sincerly,
ronny

I tried it on a (acoustic)drum-loop - but this sample apparently didn't contain enough low frequencies - I tried it on different material now (synthesized drums)Aleksey Vaneev wrote:jens, are you sure? It can add A LOT OF distortion. So it's probably means your audio has not so many bass kicks.
Joseph, this is undecided, but it won't be anywhere high.
and there it is indeed rather obvious... I wouldn't have thought that it depends that much on the matieral it is used on...

i think it's a very smart move to develop highly specific plugs like this.
you create a paired down user interface to solve a very common need/problem.
user benefits from easy UI and less processor overhead compared to stringing together more intensive plugs where only parts of their function are being utilized.
i can imagine similar plugs dedicated to other purposes - but you've chosen a great one to target - lowend/kick/mix punchiness.
if perfected it will be extremely useful to many people.
looking forward to checking it out later tonite.
also - no gripe here with the beeps. otherwise - you end up with people just using your last alpha/beta. beep away!

cause in this case that tiny buzzcomp limiter's got bigger balls (and no latency).

i'm with ronny on this one, can't see how to make a real hard-hitting kick with this plugin alone. i use the uad-gatecomp or the channelstrip-comp and an eq followed by a limiter when i want to get a 'rap-kick' out of an ordinary acoustic sample, or i layer some drums(one for bass, one for the midrange and so on).
right now this is just a distortion-plugin for me, maybe you think more about the concept of gettin a real hard hitting kick, would be great to have everything in one plugin.
