2 Questions on Kompakt:
1. I have saved my own MULTIs within my Receptor Kompakt. I now wish to delete them. I can see the files/folders at:
Samples/Native Instruments/Kompakt/Library/Instruments
and I also managed to get some files/folders stored at:
Samples/Native Instruments/Kompakt/Library/Instruments/Strings
When I attempt to delete these (I see no way of deletion FROM Kompakt) I am presented with a "you do not have sufficient privileges" admonishment.
2. Is there a limitation on the path/filename character count that Kompakt can view ... since the above path is relatively long, it appears that some samples cannot be found as the combination of filename and directory path excede what Kompakt can handle - the result is truncated file names during load and the inability for Kompakt to sucessfully load. Hence the desire to delete in question 1.
In all cases I am using OSX to remotely access Receptor Directory Structures ... I know of no way deletion directly on Receptor.
Any help in achieving results in Q1 and info on Q2 would be appreciated,
Thanx,
T-

Use the Receptor Bank / Patch management to delete you user Banks and Patches.
If you have a sample name that is longer than 31 characters that may be a problem.
If you have a sample name that is longer than 31 characters that may be a problem.

We will have to look into how to fix this. When you run Kompakt you have write priviledges to the Kompakt folder in /c/Samples. But, when you mount the drive on a Mac or PC you do not have write priviledges (write priviledges include delete and rename).treason wrote:1. I have saved my own MULTIs within my Receptor Kompakt. Until we have a fix you could save your multi Kompakt patches elsewhere. For instance, you could go to "/c/Samples/Native Instruments" and create a folder called "My Kompakt Multis" Copy the multis you already created and you want to keep to this folder. Then, when you save new multis save them to this folder. You can delete, rename, copy, etc. in this folder.
Unfortunately, the multis you created so far will continue to linger on the hard drive, but they do not take a lot of space. The good news is that now you can have a working folder with just the multis you want.
I don't know if there is a filename length limit in Kompakt. I did not encountered this problem. Once in a while I get a file not found dialog, but I tell it to look for it again, it finds it. This happens rarely, and it cannot be a filename problem because most of the time Kompakt finds that very same file with no problem.treason wrote:2. Make sure that the check box "absolute sample paths" is checked in Kompakt's save dialog. This way you can move your multi around and Kompakt will always find the samples (provided you do not move the samples).
There is a 31 character limit on the filenames in Receptor's AppleTalk. That comes from OS 9. We will try to fix this problem. But, this has nothing to do with write permissions or with Kompakt not finding the files, since Kompakt is not affected by AppleTalk. There is also a file size limit with AppleTalk. You will run into this problem if you are trying to copy files larges than 2 GB, like the Spectrasonics data files.treason wrote:In all cases I am using OSX to remotely access Receptor Directory Structures ... However, there is no such files size limit and the filename length is much longer with Samba. On OS X I strongly recommend that you use Samba. In the Finder choose Go>Connect To Server (command-K). In the "Server Address" field enter "smb://Receptor-12345" where "Receptor-12345" is the name of your Receptor. Or you can enter "smb://192.168.1.102" where "192.168.1.102" is the IP address of your Receptor.
