good to know. so let's close the thread before some reviewers of magazines see it ;)

Thanks Beno for getting back to us and looking into this issue!

My tests also show that low level audio (i.e., reverb tails) are getting toasted when rendered to 16 bit. However, 32 bit renders are fine.

Why is it that rendering also chops off 20ms from the original sample length? This has me confused.
One good thing about music, when it hits you you feel no pain.

this might be the same problem, level is so low (beyond -75db), that it simply is cuted away for the mentioned reasons ?!

Well, I've read most of this thread (mainly because recently I've questioned T's rendering ability). With a noisefloor of -75 dB, I'm not that worried. What still concerns me is a quality loss when rendering in T. Perhaps these issues are related, I'm not that savvy on DSP stuff. If they are, then yes, this is priority #1. If that's the case, then I'll glady wait SEVERAL months for T2.0.0.1.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Beno, when there is a fix can you release a patch for it in Tracktion 1.6 please?

For those of us who paid for (in my case, multiple copies!) of T1 but who are (for whatever reason) not upgrading to T2, this would be welcome and appreciated.

[ As you no doubt picked up elsewhere, T2 does not work at all using my MIDI controller. It won't allow me to play in notes from the keyboard, because it says the Ozonic controller is being used as a controller, not a keyboard! But when I go to map it as a controller it simply doesn't show up at all! Could well be user error (I only just bought the thing!), but nobody on this thread or the Mackie forum could help me. But I've had no problems with it at all in Live 4 or Reason 2.5, where it worked fine straight out of the box... :? - which means that T2 is simply off-limits to me. :( ]

Thanks 8)

Give it a rest mate! Some of us are more interested in finding out the nature of any rendering problems that there may be than reading through your carefully crafted trolling.
Apart from being rude, that's a strange comment :? There are five pages of this thread in which other users discuss a legitimate problems here. I merely pointed out that this has been discussed before, and confirmed that in my experience in T1 this rendering issue is indeed a problem, which regularly shows up when going into Audition to edit. I have mentioned it months ago. And Jules and Beno agree that there is an issue here to sort... in what way is it a problem for me to contribute? Where did I instigate a "bitch fest"?

I'm a bit confused valley, because I'm not aware that I've ever been rude to you :? I can see that you are a Moderator, and thought you were here to help people with legitimate concerns, etc etc, ... not to launch personal attacks against those who make enquiries or legitimate points in the discussion?

If you have never experienced any difficulties or issues with this software, then good for you. But for those of us who have it can be quite frustrating, and we're mostly commenting here because we would like help, either in the form of advice, or in this case in the form of Beno's welcome response above.

Tracktion is hardly the only software where I have needed help! I feel as though I'm on a steep learning curve myself with all the software I use  . But it seems odd to me that - while on the Ableton, Propellerhead and Adobe forums I usually find generous responses to questions I raise, here I am attacked by strangers who apparently have authority over the content! I realise that KVR is not the official forum for Mackie, but it IS still the place where users are recommended to come for help over these kinds of issue.

I feel that posts like yours create a bad impression, and - call me sensitive if you like! - I am quite upset by your unprovoked attack :(

I don't have Tracktion in front of me, but I seem to recall that one of the options in the Render dialogue box has an option to compress the file while rendering. I might be talking through my arse here, but it might be worth checking that you haven't chosen compression.

I'm quite certain I know what your problem is headquest. See the screenshot, you Ozonic doesn't show as a controller under 'available controllers' but you do have it selected under 'midi input...' and 'midi output...' right? It may not show up as 'Ozonic' (my Oxygen8 shows up as '[1x1] Port 1'). Make sure this is empty (set to <no device selected> then your Ozonic will show as a controller and you can use it in and map the controllers in Edit view. I have an M-Audio product as well and I'm certain this is your issue.

Right...
It may not show up as 'Ozonic' (my Oxygen8 shows up as '[1x1] Port 1').
It does - no problems there. The four audio inputs, MIDI keyboard input and external MIDI inputs all show up as icons in the arrange page correctly, too...
Make sure this is empty (set to <no device selected>
Yes, that's correct...
then your Ozonic will show as a controller and you can use it in and map the controllers in Edit view.
No you can't ... that's where the problem arises
I have an M-Audio product as well and I'm certain this is your issue.
I really appreciate you trying to help braj. Thanks, mate 8)

Hey Headquest, break this into a new thread so we can sort it out. I'm sure your OZonic should work.
