Then again, people have had success with Behringer stuff, but I guess you could also say that people got where they were going in their Yugos.
Small audio mixer to use with Tracktion?

Just based on what I've heard (elsewhere) about Behringer products, I think I'd steer clear. For a few more dollars you could have a Peavey PV6. These have earned a nice reputation for about $80. Hey, I'm just a hobbyist too, but I still look above the lowest level when I'm looking at gear. An extra $30 probably isn't going to make much of a difference, and it may save you alot more than that value in your time if you had to return an inferior product.

bying cheap behringer copy's of origianl designed stuff (mackie, boss, korg, shure...) is lost money for the original producers and some day there will only be behringer and noone to copy from
no really, they produce their stuff THAT cheap, that they throw away nearly 30% of their production directly. like said, we were asked, if it's shit, and it is. you can get a mic-preamp at ebay for 50 i'm pretty shure.
now another example for greg
: it's like going to a music store, where you get real good customer support and after you have talked to them 1 hour and decided what you want to have, you go and by it at the cheaper and much bigger but no customer supprot musicstore. after a while your little favorite shop that helps you a lot on finding the right stuff will be bankrupt.
sometimes cheap comes out to be more expensive than you thought.
another smal behringer story. oneday the neat 19" drawmer-compressor copy of behringer produces a short circuit on a live gig i was engineering. that affectes the lexicon pcm91 beneath it. both were broken. thank you behringer.

Most of the small music stores I've been to were full of overpriced cheap knock-off shit with old piano teaching ladies there to help you choose a guitar amp.

I do think that the place to spend $ is on your input chain - one good pre amp - one nice pair of converters and its all good. That and an sm 57 and you're in business...

Something to keep in mind with a mixer is monitoring while recording. It took me a while to sort that one out. You don't want to record the playback from the computer etc.
It's not as much as an issue if your not using a mic. Mackie and the newer Soundcraft models have a one button solution. Otherwise, you'll have to send the signal you're recording to an aux out and feed that to the input of your sound card. In my cause with the Yamaha MG10/2 that limits me to mono.

id recommend getting rid of your crap audigy and your idea that getting a mixer will help you at all, and recommend getting some sort of presonus preamp/audio rack. I have the firepod, and i dont need anything else anymore. Just a recommendation

The Audigy is fine for my uses
Rhett, that's something to consider.
