I've post on the vsti forum a thread about virtual electric guitars.
Listen this very little mp3.
This part of song (some seconds) is the intro of "All right now" from Free.
The soft is Tracktion, the sf2 is "ultimate guitar soundfont", the vst is jcm900.
All is virtual.
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lesitenm/06tele ... tfree2.mp3
Can you forget there's no guitarist ? No ? Yes ?
I'm guitarist, but my idea was to help friends of mine who play keyboards.
help me to improve.
Daniel.

adda little sustain and some finger noise and some body to the tone and you're kinda sorta in the same ballpark... can you choose your guitar as well? i think an SG was used on that track back in the 70's, with an orange amp, so i have heard. but shoot me in the ballsack if im wrong...
great vsti though!! very cool. very useful!

Sorry for my english language.
I think you're right about SG and Orange (I have been the owner of an Orange some years ago).
You're right too for body and some finger noises.
The rythmic guitar is not bad, but...
solos ? chorus ?
Do a sequencer can reproduce a guitar solo ? a chorus ?
I don't know.
I shall play a chorus with my Lespaul and I shall try to reproduce it.
I think it's impossible
To be continued.
Daniel.

Almost impossible. I have an old record from Synergy where some guitar player hooks his electric guitar in a synth so the actual sound is very synthetic. You stil can hear it's a guitar playing because of the way it is beeing played. If you use samples it may give a convincing sound and will be good enough for cords, but if you use a keyboard the way you play will give it away. The rythmic guitar is not bad, but...
solos ? chorus ? Question

I think soundwise it's very very good for a virtual instrument, but (speaking as a guitarist) it doesn't sound particularly like a guitar being played live - but I reckon that's as close as you could get - very good stuff. nice backing - what did you use for drums?

It's only a fast work.
I use "HardRockDrums.sf2" on Sfz (vsti) and a reverb called "RoomReverb", vst.
I've found the sf2 drum on "Soundfont depot", but not sure. It's a 8 Mo file.
Th vsti I'm using are no much. I use many sf2 (less cpu and more choice). But some vsti synthies and some drum machines vsti are nice.

Bio of the guy who played the solo in "All Right Now".
http://www.tomguerra.com/Paul-Kossoff.html
Sad, sad. Dead at 25. So many 'ludes, so little time. The singer Paul Rodgers and the drummer Simon Kirke went on to form Bad Company with Mick Ralphs. The bio seems to say it was a Les Paul/Marshall with bass speakers.

Wow ! Lespaul ? SG ?
In my opinion, there's a video. I'm looking for.

Daniel I know a virtual instrument for that: "RealGuitar" by Musiclab. It is very special.daniel- wrote: Do a sequencer can reproduce a guitar solo ? a chorus ?

You want to play chorus and solo? So you watch the demo *videos* here and see what the RealGuitar can do: http://www.musiclab.com/downloads/listen
About your audio clip: No, the guitar does not sound like a real guitar player. And the drums do not sound like a real drummer (and not strong enough for such hard guitars). But it sounds okay!

On the other forum, Susiwong writed :
"The clip is not bad for an artificial guitar.
Of course the most important factor is the MIDI, imho you still can hear it's not played by a guitar.
Soundwise, try the following :
Copy the guitar track, send the copy through the twin reverb emulation set fairly clean, pan the two a bit (not much) L / R and mix to taste.
So many rock guitar tones on record or even live are the result of using a combination of different amps, mostly mixed so they appear to be one single track with monster tone.
Keep on experimenting "
I think the advice (different amps) is important.
Daniel.
