Sorry you're having these problems braj. Have you deleted all the tracktion preferences and stuff? I'll make sure Jules see's this thread to see if he can offer any insight. This may be a hard one track down because we can't reproduce it.

very odd - I can't think why it'd think it's not on a hard disk. Can you tell me exactly what paths these files are in?

OK, braj I spoke too soon. I see it happening now too on some of my edits. And within these edits, some (not all of my files) will work. In the project list, it apears as if files not used in the edit play, but those used in the edit are not recognised as braj described. But I do have one file that does play in the edit. It wasn't recorded with tracktion though, this particular was imported from a CD.

All the projects on my laptops internal drive seem to work fine.
But some of my backups on the firewire drive are showing problems. Ogg files seam to play fine from the firewire, but not all wav. Weird stuff. I'll keep at it but I need to go in a bit.

Well, maybe a little.

Sorry about your disabilitysemiquaver wrote:pardon if I'm a retard: have you tried repairing permissions?
Beno, I did a complete uninstall and it didn't resolve the issue.

I can confirm a similar problem installing 10.4 on a second Partition, and using Apple's "Transfer user accounts from another partition". I transfered my account, all applications and all files and folders from my Panther partition.
The only edits that have problems are those with .wavs, and all of them are broken (all marked "file missing").
[edit]
In fact I can now no longer add the .wav file with which I had the previous problem to projects in Tracktion2, even after I copied it from the other partition, and saved a local copy before opening Tracktion. I get "file missing" right away.
In addition, I tried copying a different file to my start up drive, opened tracktion, then added it to a brand new project. It opened ok, but when I quit Tracktion, it crashes. When I restart tracktion, the file is now corrupted in the project ("file missing" again). Interestingly it appears that Tracktion is treating it as a networked or compressed file when I open the project, even though it is located on my startup partition.
then I tried grabbing a new wav file off a cd, saving it, then opening tracktion, creating a new project and adding it. Opens fine, and this time tracktion doesn't crash on exit, but when I restart Tracktion, same thing: "file missing".
Curiouser and curiouser.

Thanks for the info batgirl. I can pretty much confirm everything you've seen so we're all in the same boat. Jules is looking into it now so we'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the help.

Nope. Something broke with 10.4. Renaming files is the second thing I triedaldi wrote:maby it's just the how tracktion names the recorded files?! i would trie testing simple names without any spaces and stuff to test this. just a suggestion.

I found a work around, but you need Live to use it. Since the issue seems to be limited to WAV files, I just rewired Live to T and ran the loops through that, and then rendered the loops in T1. So at least I can work in T still. And since this was already my intended work around for the lack of a good timestretch, it really wasn't a big deal. I would have done it this way anyway if I wasn't so lazy. So though it definitely needs fixing, at least I'm not blocked now

Yeah, it's actually OK for me now, as long as I use Live. Any audio I record in T is fine, and loops play nicer in Live anyway
I'm happy. If you don't work with wav files much, I say upgrade. 10.4 is really nice.
