hello,
first time im trying tracktion,..i tried to stay whit other hosts, but i need to use rewire,..so how it works inside tracktion?, .the way i want to work is like it works in live, we can directlly record to an audio track what we are doing inside the rewire aplication,.. ... so how can we "transport" to tracktion what we do whit rewire aplics...? i hope wished it was just hit the rec button on tracktion after we load the rewire filter on a track,.. but it seems is not like that .. :?
EDIT ---just saw theres a newbie questions post..so just move this one to it

Don't use rewire myself but..

try selecting the track and pressing the "render track" button. You may need to insert a blank MIDI clip if there is nothing on the track already (press "G").

Actually, I vaguely remember hearing that rewire devices can't be rendered faster than real-time, in which case select the track, press "export" and opt for "only export selected track" and "render at 1x play speed". You'll then need to re-import the wav manually (drag n drop, or press "A")

The good news is that you don't need to set up seperate track for MIDI send and audio return in Tracktion like you do in Live. Nor do you need to render down because Tracktion handles CPU far better than Live 4, so you can leave Reason (or whatever) running.

To do it (using Reason as an example, as this is my workflow)...

1. Select and empty track and add a MIDI clip.
2. Drag a "filter" at the right end of the track and select ReWire from the drop down list
3. In the properties section at the bootom half of the screen choose ReWire device (Reason) and set up MIDI channel, audio return, etc
4. Click "launch editor" to open up (Reason) and ReWire client interface will appear
5. In (Reason) hardwire the device (e.g. NN-XT) straight into the Hardware Interface (e.g. channels 1/2)
6. Minimise (Reason) and double check you've set up ReWire properties as you intended.
7. Sequence MIDI in Tracktion to send to (Reason)
8. Drag another filter into the chain at the right edge of the track and select (any) VST effect that you wish to apply
9. Hit the [A] button at the top right edge of the track to reveal automatable parameters. These will include volume/pan and any aspects of the VST effect that can be automated.
10. Select a parameter and draw automation straight on top of the MIDI clip by double clikcing the automation line to add nodes and then dragging them
11. Select track properties and click on "Freeze" in the properties section at the lower part of the screen. This will Freeze the VST effect and free up CPU.
12. Voila!

Hope this helps.
Add VST effects and automate straight on top of the MIDI sequence.

There's some good stuff here already, enough to explain it, but if you like pics (who doesn't like pics?) have a wee look at this link, all should become easy

ive just about had it with figuring this out...

how in the hell can you dump multiple channels of audio from reason via rewire at the same time? im tired of live soiling iteslf everytime i try to have it do a multichannel record from reason with oh say ONE vst effect. i understand how to get one channel recorded...like say, mixL/mixR but i have 24 outputs that need accountign for and ill be damned if im going to render them one at a time
