No, do NOT add the application bundle as your search path.
I think I know what is going on, because you are not logged in as an Admin tracktion can not install the necesary plugs to the VST folder on first launch as it normally does. So go inside your bundle and copy the Mackie Plug-ins folder and the MDA Plug-ins folder to the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ folder. Now launch tracktion. Go to the Settings>Plugins tab, and be sure the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ path is listed in ths directories to search. Then choose rescan plugin directories>clear the ignore list and do a complete scan option. After the scan you should have all the mackie plugs in your filters list.

Makes sense, a permissions problem...:Beno wrote:No, do NOT add the application bundle as your search path.

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/larsfarm wrote:[...]That procedure is definitly wrong! [...]I suppose this is a permissions error in Tracktion Mac.
Shared by all users on the computer. Needs admin rights to install into. So do what others do (including the Finder...). Ask for permission. There are standard dialogs for this...
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/
is for the current user only and no speciall persmissions required. An alternative solution is to install here, but T doesn't... Best would be to ask the user...
Problem remains in T, but now there is a workaround. Good!

Absolutelly. Sorry for not being clear and thank you for your help.Beno wrote:So did it fix your problem?

Note that this is a workaround working around the problem that still remains in Tracktion (or if you insist that users run as admins (which you shouldn't IMO)) in the documentation.
Again, I have found the missing plugs. They are installed in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ Tracktion finds them and displays them as two sub-dirs in the plug-in list. Not only that. They (or at least some of them) work. Thanks!

On PC make sure that your search includes the Tracktion2\plugins directory not just the tracktion\plugins one.

No, its the installed application. It's the OSX replacement for old-OS resource forks. It's a convenient way to "bundle" all things that belong together. For instance an application and all its help files. Without bundles you'd have the programm and a whole lot of support files with the app. Here you have just the application with all the private support files hidden inside. Use caution. You can screw up the app completely... The inside of an application bundle belongs to the developer. Not you or me.phletch wrote:is the bundle the downloaded disk image?
