This thread here at RMS got me thinking about a better way to post comments anywhere you happen to be in Tracktion.
Whomever uses Microsoft Excel knows that you can put a note attached to a cell, and it get's indicated with a small red triangle in the corner of the cell, and mousing over it works just like T's pop-up help.
Well, why not let users get access to a pop-up like help for their edits - where users could hit some key combination while mouse clicking, and add a comment to any GUI element on the T edit screen; whether it's a clip, a track, a filter, anything? Indicate the fact that a comment is there with a neon green small circle or something. Mousing over the circle lights the circle and a right click or something else displays it (so that you don't have the popup notes coming on without some kind of user command).
I really like Daniel's plugin solution that works for a track (or the whole edit if you put it in the final bus) but how about individual clips, or tracks or comments about a filter settting, etc.? I sometimes change mic positions/choices on individual clips in a track, and it can get cumbersome trying to keep track of it all. But the little notes would help that. Just like post-it notes.
Does this make sense to anyone else and would you use such a feature?

I love the post-its idea...
until then, I got so inspired by Daniel and pHz post-its, that I'm making one in JUCE if ya'll are insterested... called TrackPAD. Thus it looks like it belongs in tracktion, can read your default colour scheme from your tracktionsettings, is resizable, can hold up to 4096 charaters, supports copy paste, undo, etc. Should have a beta version of it in a few hours.
Juce makes this kinda stuff really easy, cos it's all basically there already, just gotta connect the pieces.

Yah, but will it be more dope than trucker hats? Maybe ModulR is the only one that will get that question.AD80 wrote:Yeah I would like to see it. Jules mentioned a long time ago that it was on the list and he planned to have a note system in Tracktion. I'm sure he'll come up with something dope.
ModulR, I'll use it if you make it.

Me Too, Mod! But will it be compatible with the best Tracktion add-on of all time, Senderella? That way I can send only the important notes to another track.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

In case you are monitoring this thread and missed out on ModulR's announcement of TrackPAD, here is his TrackPAD thread:ModuLR wrote:I love the post-its idea...

Hmm...I voted for it, but after seeing TrackPad, I think I wanna change my vote. This plugin is pretty much all we need--I'd rather Jules work on some of the other FR's first!
