I have an NFR copy of Tracktion that I got with an audio device... So I recieved an e-mail from Mackie offering a $30. mail-in rebate for the boxed version only. Hmmm... is that the only option for someone to purchase T2 if you don't have an existing license? Can't I purchase online? :)

The online, no-3rd-party-plugin version is only for paying, registered users of Tracktion 1.

shame, never mind.
I got the nfr T1, but have recently bought ableton live (found it to be a near perfect partner for me workflow wise). However if there was an option to upgrade my nfr for the no bundled plug-ins vanilla online version of T2 I would gladly pay for that, just because i felt it was such a nice move on mackies part to offer the nfr version. dunno about the boxed version with the plug ins though - don't need em, so i wouldn't be able to justify paying the premium if you know what i mean.
I'm not whining or dissing, i'm glad that i'll be able to use T1 (with the included final master) for just mastering stereo files, but i would like to pay for the 'un-bundled' T2, even though i'd be using virtually none of the new features - does that make sense?
Any other nfr users who feel similar?
And i'll repeat that i'm not whining or having a go at rms/mackie i'm happy as I am, i just feel that they may have lost potential sales if others are in a similar position.
Anyway the $20 upgrade for registered users is a bargain. Nice one mackie.
