Voted other - I prefer a mix of wavs (one shots mainly - but loops etc are good also). I also prefer multiformat libraries, useable in by different applications & if there are loops pre rexed that's also cool.
I'm all against these sound libraries that lock you into using a particular player, e.g. kompakt based libraries.
I want sounds I can edit if i need to, without having to bounce them down first etc.

Post

akai's nice also - least you can get to the individual wavs (cdxtract etc.) & easily convert them for the most part.

Stands to reason :hihi:

Greetings from a fellow Norwicher by the way!

Back on topic, you can extract individual wavs from Giga too, and 99% of the other stuff (keyswitching etc).
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Evenin' Griels... nice to see you too. I was beginning to think I was the only music tech head in the wilds of our native Norfolk !

i like one shot samples and loops in wav. i like to cut up the loops to make different loops by rearranging them or just using a portion of it...i am a singer - songwriter so i am replacing a band with what i write on the computer...i do find that I can write a killer song to a simple ambient loop

i do like creating loops in reason and fruity loops though :)

Oh man, only 4 votes for Giga?
what should I do...what should I do now :D

Well, since I have the sfz+ beta with Giga support and Kompakt (1), and both of those utilize disk streaming for larger samples, they would be my preference. Since I do not have Giga 3 (and never will) and do nto presently have Kontakt 2, I would vote for Giga 2.xx and Kontakt 1 formats over libraries designed for the later versions.

I'm offering my instruments in GS2.5 format now, with an .art file for GS3 users, adding round robins and other features, like odd numbers of vel. layers etc.

Herman, I've seen your posts on Northern sounds. Opposite there, most people here are bedroom composers, not pro's and they don't go for really high end stuff like eg. 30gb sample libraries. Giga seems to be more a high end program so you are more likely to see people here with Kontakt/HALion/NN-XT (Reason) and EXS24. And SFZ of course as soundfonts mostly are free.

All of which read Gigasampler format except NN-XT. And CDxtract/AWave/Translator can do the Giga<->NN-XT stuff.

Extreme Sample Converter does Giga->sfz and vice versa. It's another good option, although Mac users might disagree...

Griels, thanks. I didn't think of that. Guess which one I have :bang:

So are you gonna convert Hermans Giga files to NN-XT or SFZ for us

The 2 demos by Per Kihlborg are very, very nice btw

Excellent work Herman, a free RA . YES.
Do all the demos only contain your samples? If that's the case I'm very impressed. Heck, I'm still impressed regardless.

So lovesign, are you roberto on the S56K forum?
