Herman, I've seen your posts on Northern sounds. Opposite there, most people here are bedroom composers, not pro's and they don't go for really high end stuff like eg. 30gb sample libraries. Giga seems to be more a high end program so you are more likely to see people here with Kontakt/HALion/NN-XT (Reason) and EXS24. And SFZ of course as soundfonts mostly are free.
Well, Kontakt and EXS sound pretty high-end to me as well, they both cost more than Giga, and Kontakt seems to be equal now when it comes to features.
The largest library I have is 18 gb, but that's 3 mic sets, so you could say it's 6 gb.

Thanks to everyone who voted and commented, very useful info thanks :) should save me and others making files available for applications that are of use to only a very small minority. I want to spend my time on the right formats :D

Best regards,

Peter

just a quick bump to see if anyone can be persuaded to convert Hermans Giga samples to SF2 or SFZ :)

I don't really have $130 to spend on a converter at the moment :(

"download section is temporarily down due to heavy traffic". Hope that will be up again soon.

One and the same :)

Honestly, I can't vote here because there are variables.. for instance, for drums, I always want WAVs. But I would never use WAVs with a multisampled orchestra.
Shreddage 3 Stratus: Next generation Kontakt Player guitar, now available!

Impact Soundworks - Cinematic sounds, world instruments, electric guitars, synths, percussion, plugins + more!

I'm voting for SFZ here. Free player + WAV files directly accessable + text file (that you can edit with Notepad) as the soundfont definition = what's not to like?
