My Mac getting confused between T1 & T2

Hi there,
Would there be any problem caused by me renaming T2 'tracktion 2' instead of just 'tracktion' (or T1 tracktion 1). It seems that my mac is getting confused somewhat and wont let me choose T2 as the default application for .tracktion files; it just reverts back to T1. I can succesfully change them individually though, but I have quite a few projects to change manually.

At this stage I can't bring myself to uninstall T1 :-o It would be like saying goodbye to an old friend :? Ok I'm sentimental :roll:

Hi Steve, forgive if you've already tried this...

Have you Apple-I info'ed a T1 tracktion file and tried changing the "Open With" to T2 and making that the default for all. I wasn't sure from your post if you're changing them individually by opening each one in T2 or if you tried what I suggest above. I always thought that stuff was based on TYPE/CREATOR and you'd think that T1 and T2 would have different ones... you'd think anyway. ;)

Anyway, good luck and when I upgrade in a couple days and have the same problem I may be asking for your solution at that point. Loving Tiger by the way.. if you haven't upgraded I'd highly recommend it. :)

Yeah I tried that. T1 & T2 must have the same type and creator as well as the same name.

Yeah, I'm itching to install Tiger. I'm still on Jaguar here :?

Ok I tried my own suggestion. I changed the name of T1 to tracktion 1 but this didn't make any difference. My mac still wont change all my projects to T2 as the default application using the get info dialog box. It reverts to T1 as the default application when I select T2 in the get info as "Use this application to open all documents like this" and then press "Change all" :?

I should add that I like to launch Tracktion by selecting the project file I want to work on. I guess I'll need to change all the projects manually, or uninstall T1 :-o

Alright I've gone and done it; uninstalled T1 :cry: Problem fixed :D

You have to repare the permissions when this happens.
T1 + T2 works perfect on my jaguar.
