please fix the sends

i know there are workarounds, but I can't get them going. Here is one problem. I have delay when using the aux send or a rack. The reason is my chain I think.

I am trying to send a snare through a rack that begins with a limiter, then an EQ, then a gate. I am basically trying to get a really sharp attack and then mix it back into the original snare to taste.

Now I hear PDC works in a rack but only for one latency inducing VST. Well i thnk all of these qualify, so what should I do?

I hate to blaspheme, but really this is why having a mix window is so good. It is very easy to set up complex aux sends and busses, and then bring them back into the original track at whatever level you desire.

How would you set up a gated reverb in tracktion and return it back to different tracks w/out latency?

things like this are important when mixing, and I am having trouble getting it all going.

which plugs are you using inside the rack exactly?

more importantly, what plug is your snare coming from? Is it a multi-output thing in a rack? If so, add a rack send for every output, and set the send level to 0 for channels you wish to keep dry..

So, add a send filter for each output of the BFD rack, even if you then set some of them to send 0dB. The trick is to make sure the entire rack has the same delay compensation..

see..that's insane to have to do all this. Honestly, getting things routed right is the secret to a good mix. I send more time trying to get my sends going, hearing buzzing from senderella when something's muted..having to find the one aux track that is not unsoloed after you solo a part..things like that are all fixed if a mixer is implented.

i get the whole "we don't need mixers" vibe, but i have always used them. from consoles, to sonar to protools. and they work great for many reasons. One is that it is really easy to route your tracks and aux sends. Right now doing sends in tracktion is really awkward and slows workflow down a ton.

I still love t2, i bought it, am using it, but it has made my mixing this weekend tougher. so im no bashing the software, just making a request from my viewpoint.

... if you REALLY need a conventional software mixer then get something other than tracktion ...

yeah, am messing w/ it now. I started a new song, so there was some delay.

How would you reccomend going about sending a reverb to a snare and panning it off center a little? make a rack with a reverb then pan filter in it? Also, the only way to use SIR w/out delay is racking it rght?

pHz..i checked out energyx, but I like tracktion beter. I do live music mixed w/ VSTis for drums..the rest I play, so tracktion makes the most sense when it comes to recording things like that. just the mixing is tougher to get

point taken ... have you tried some of the VST mixers that various folks have built for use in tracktion ??? this guy has a few but there ARE others if you do a quick forum search ...

yes..thats what i was looking for..those are perfect, but I usually record around 32 tracks or so..it seems a lot are limited to 8 chanels..my drums are 17 on their own..are their any that are just set up to be modded however you need? (kind of like Sonar's mixer, which gives you great control over your busses and sends..it's about all Sonar does that i like, but it is a great feature)..this is really what i meant anyway, have a tracktion mix plug that you can mix in if you want. it wuld be a great add on for t2, because if you don't need it, you don't have to use it.

and platinum, i sent an instance of SIR to every drum track. Now the whole drum kit is delayed a beat and out of synch w/ all the instruments. I'm wondering if I have pdc enabled.
