Hmm... I somehow feel that the bundled software deals perhaps prohibits a light, downloadable version.

My guess is when making bundle deals, the "donor" companies would expect a certain calculated exposure for the bundled products. I.e., Mackie will say "we excpect to sell xxx copies of T2, thereby giving you r product xxx amount of market exposure". Now, if an alternate version without the 3rd party stuff would lower that number, the 3rd party suppliers would probably not be as interested...

Lunch - where did I call you a name? Maybe YOU should read MY post again. Whether you meant it that way or not, what you wrote sounds arrogant.

Yes, you gave a good argument - and I gave a good counterpoint: that there is significant worth in the use and participation in the early stages of a product. If it's just cash spent that matters, I could bring up the several thousands of dollars I've spent on Mackie products over the years. But - I didn't go there at all.

I also said that I didn't expect a $20 upgrade, only that it would have been nice to have the option to buy a key for the demo that they made such a deal about. Doesn't cost them anything significant - most of us already have the software & only need a keyfile. As has been stated. they could easily charge $100 dollars for it, which would cut the cost even more for NFR holders & still get them the same money they would have received if we'd have bought it earlier.

I also said it was nice to offer the rebate. They can do what they want with the product, sure. But it bears pointing out that their choice to not provide a better option for NFR users may simply cause them to go "well, that was fun..." and then buy elsewhere.

New thread started for T1 NFR users (like me) who would be willing to pay for the upgrade to T2 at a different price!

Drop by and let your mark in there :D

willowhaus, "presumptuous and arrogant" may be polite talk in your universe, but around here it's an insult. Particularly since it was unwarranted.

I'm willing to say that it's not completely unreasonable to ask for (ie. not "expect", just ask for) a $100 option; however, this doesn't address my other points about Mackie/RMS wanting to move to retail box. Pretty hard to make that move if you're busy giving every Tracktioneer and would-be Tracktioneer the option for download.

I also agreed that downloadable version IS worth debating, but my points used as a *starting point* the assumption that there will be no downloadable version.

I see you're no better here than in another forum :) .

The point is, there are many people (essentially, those outside of the USA) who simply don't have that as an option.
