Rendering Audigy-synth

Is this possible? I have a song(edit) that i recorded with my Waveterminal-soundcard. I can, however, load and playback soundfonts with my Audigy, triggered by a Tracktion midi-clip within the same song(edit)..
When i render the song or the track for that matter, the output doesn't get rendered. In short, i get an empty file. Playback is fine, but when i render, the Audigy-synth track (output is set to SB Audigy Synth A) doesn't produce an audio-file.
Although i feel a bit stupid asking this, can someone tell me what i am missing?

Download SFZ (check the quick links, top right) and load your soundfont into this instead.. Tracktion can't render audio that is coming from an external synth, even if its built into the soundcard. (Its still external as far as Tracktion is concerned.)

You can render this a few ways: Try the Tapeit vst plugin that records audio in real-time. Or set your audigy recording settings to 'what you hear' in the options, then arm the audigy track for recording in Tracktion. You should then be able to record the track like an external instrument.

Thanks, i'm gonna try that one.floyd wrote:You can render this a few ways: Try the Tapeit vst plugin that records audio in real-time. And platinumears, i'm using SFZ already but it's a bit buggy, so i figured why not use my Audigy?

sfz buggy? Well it does suck alot of cpu but I haven't noticed any bugs... If you have, maybe let Rene know on the RGC forum? He'll want to fix them, I'm sure.
One other reason to use sfz over your audigy is its much easier to add effects to an sfz track vs. an audigy track. So if you want to add an eq or a compressor you'll have to render (using one of the methods I prev mentioned) your audigy track first.

Thanks floyd.
When i load up an edit in which i have a track with SFZ on it, sometimes i get the error-message "not enough memory to load soundfont". When i tweak some parameters on SFZ and/or restart the edit, suddenly it WILL load a soundfont.
It's a bit of a strange bug and it could be something else. Just haven't figured it out yet.

Your welcome.. I can maybe help with the out of memory thing too.
By default sfz starts in sf32 mode, which means it loads the whole soundfont in 32-bit mode for the fastest speed. However, this will double the sf2's size in memory. This can be a problem with larger soundfonts.
You can switch it to sf16 to load in 16-bit, except it will hit your cpu a bit. I recommend pr32, which will load only the patch you are using into memory. ie. if you have a 100mb general midi font, and only need a 2mb marimba from it, 2mb is all that will be loaded in memory.
Hope that helps!
