There were quite a few, but from first glance it looks like there are more synth kits. But the ones I've heard of the acoustic so far are pretty good. And also, the full MIDI file library comes with it, which is good for us non-drummers. I also have DR-008, so I already have a TON of kits and MIDI files, but you can never have enough!

I will say that about half of the kits are sample based, but I could be off on this figure. I'll check again tomorrow when I fire it back up again.

Hmmm, let me see. I don't know what they are called, but there are a couple kits, not sure of the exact number, where the name starts with "MT" then some word describing the kit. But there's at least one in the acoustic kits that clearly has "MT" in it. Would that be the one?
I would think this is the full RMIV, since it does have the MIDIs and also the site says over 270 kits. Well, it comes with 274, which sounds pretty correct to me. Anyone who has it can maybe confirm.
Oh, and the "MIDI files" are actually in a native format for the RMIV, and you can load just one or a "bank" of grooves in a style. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of them. I think the website says over 1200, which seems about right. Haven't counted though.

I think I got the number wrong on the grooves. But still, it seems right. There are supposed to be 2850 or so, and looking again, it really seems that they are all included.

Look on the LinPlug forum. There is about 90% of the kits included with T2, and only about 1000 MIDI files, but the MIDI files are ALL specially made for T2, and exclusive at the moment. Plus, there will be a very attractive upgrade offer from LinPlug for the "Full version". The rest is on the Linplug forum.

dont forget you can drag these RMIV formatr MIDI grooves out of the GUI and drop it onto a track in T2 where it becomes 'normal' MIDI that you can edit or use to drive a different drum plugin or save out to use elsewhere ...koolkeys wrote:Oh, and the "MIDI files" are actually in a native format for the RMIV, and you can load just one or a "bank" of grooves in a style. Cool! I didn't know that. I do know that you can do that with DR-008 and Slicy/Fill-In, which is still my drum machine of choice. But hey, the more options, the better! Thanks!

HI
I did have a look at my install of RM4 (not the one with t2) and It is about a gig in size - I couldn't count the kits!
TBH I practically never use the kits, the synthesis engine is certainly where RM4 can improve - this is no Microtonic.
What I like about RM4 is the ease with which you can create your own kits, I have a multi-gig AKAI library of percussion and Drum hits and I spent a few days creating my own kits-once you get the hang of layers and importing samples it really is a quick process.
The modulation section of RM4 also deserves some investigation - you can come up with some really nice mangling and the filters aint too bad either.
Flipper.

koolkeys, a bit off topic but why use slicy and that other one? Isn't it just premade drum midi hits? Why would you use that instead of creating your own?

Well, part of the glory of Slicey and Fill-in is that besides hundreds of pre-made patterns, you CAN create your own. Plus, you can use different envelope, swing, and humanize controls on any pattern, including your own, and even export each one as a MIDI file, from one bar to several, and you can just drag it into T and it will make it's own MIDI clip.
In essense, it's a very advanced drum editor that can store several different patterns in each cell of DR-008. It's better than any drum editor in software by far.
So that's why I use it, to create my own. It saves a TON of time and gives you very realistic results.

Also, you can change around which piece of the kit is being triggered by each part of Slicey/Fill-In. There is much more flexibility that I didn't mention, including pattern selectors, like ReDrum in Reason, plus, like I said, many playing aids that will save time rather than programming in your own patterns then editing velocities, etc. You can edit all velocities and everything from within the plug. Honestly, Ron, I know you use DR-008, and I really think you should check it out. Plus, when I bought it, I got in when Real Guitar was coming out and any new customer who bought the drum tools for $120 got RG for FREE(RG retails at like $150). So it was an even better deal for me!
