Hi Urs,
I'm absolutely loving filterscape. It makes my Virus C sound disgusting! I just built a PC to run Emulator X b/c of the infamous Z-Plane filters. I haven't bought the Emu card yet, and now I'm wondering if I've just wasted $600 building this PC. Does anyone have experience with Z-Plane filters and can you compare them with Filterscape? . . . PC for sale, anyone. . . ?
cheers,
marc
will filterscape quench need for Emu?

Well, hehe, to be honest, I'm not sure.
The Z-Plane filters are based upon a patented mechanism which allows for morphing of arbitrary filters and filter combinations. While FilterscapeVA gives you 5 filter frequencies, E-mus filters are built upon 7. And they have a looong history of doing so. So I guess that some of their models may smoke anything out there.
On the other hand, FilterscapeVA gives you more control over the filters. Plus, it's very young. We'll see more patches coming out of this - no doubt that there's much stuff to be explored yet.
However, the real question might be, do you need sampling or do you need a synthesizer...
Cheers,
Urs

I don't really need anything more, but it's always nice to have one more weapon. . . Don't know if anyone here listens to Teebee or Calyx, but they swear by their Emu's and their basslines are as techy as they come. And I love that future funk. Filterscape is already deep enough, and such a young pup, what a future we have to look forward to.
