oh - i thought that one was supposed to toggle the lighting of the panel on and off?

if not, i'd say, mclilith was perfectly right about that. ;)

My honest criticism:

- I would lose the shadows entirely. I've never been a fan of "photorealistic" shadow rendering on GUIs. In this particular case they are very long and almost look like part of the interface to indicate signal path flow. I find them to be distracting.

- I would greatly increase the contrast of the legending. If I have to get six inches from the monitor just to figure out what a knob does I'm not likely to enjoy or want to use a product. I like how the white text ("KHz" & "Sidechain") in the first posted picture stands out and you immediately know what those buttons do without having to strain your eyes. I would use a contrast similar to that. If all of the legending had this kind of contrast it would be easy to head straight for the knob you need without trying to figure out which one it is.

Other than those two niggles I think it looks beautiful. The layout looks good and if the LEDs function as I imagine they're supposed to it looks like you'll get good feedback.

I rarely like the fake 3D look, the rings around the knobs look completely unnatural, the text is too hard to read, and "Niagaragain" is such a clumsy name that it cuts any possible sexiness factor the GUI might have in half :/

Shadows are a bit phony; we can do without it, can't we? And you should enhance the lettering constrast. Labels below the buttons in the input could be useful...

Just my opinion. In the end it will look good, no doubt.
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Yes! Much, much better. Looks good.

Hah! That last screenshot looks awesome. Didn't like the previous ones.
If you want huge shadows, use soft shadows instead of hard ones. Imo :)

The screws are at the wrong angle. They look like little broken off screw heads floating on the sides.

Other than that I think it looks good. I esspecially like the half circles that match the curve of the LEDs.

The original was definitely sexier, but at the cost of usability. I still think some very soft area shadows would be nicer than either no shadows or hard shadows though.

mhh..the problem is i still haven´t figured out how to get soft shadows in 3d-designer
they´re either ON or off, at least thats how it looks to me - but i will try further :D
