I´m looking for a good host to be used mainly for mixing audio tracks in a pc.
I want to stay away from Cubase as much as possible.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Try Kreatives.org Kristal Audio. Can't go wrong with it just for audio, as it is both very good and free.

I have tried it and not only looks and work similar to Cubase. It only allows 2 Fx per track. :?
Thanks anyway.

What's wrong with Tracktion? Either 1 or 2? It's still the best.

So then what specifically are you after?

Ever try Adobe Audition? It has multitrack, heard of some people making good use of it (and it's based on the excellent CoolEdit engine). Not sure how many effects per track, but you could always use a chainer to work around that. EnergyXT is great to work with for me, but it is decidedly not a match to everyone's tastes. It is very unCubase though.

I guess you haven´t bee to the Europe T2 thread

Or the "Freelunch" one.

T was my first choice, but I need loop recording which is only available in T2 and I can not pay over 200+$ for it right now.
Thanks anyway. It seems I am shit out of luck on this as I tried the N-track and I just can´t get to grips with a couple things.I`ll keep trying thought.
There is not much of a hurry so I will keep trying a few others. I just downloaded EXT and it looks daunting :-o but at least it will keep my mind off the T2 deal.

Will try. I think I have a copy that came with the PC.

I am at it right now.
I might like the Uncubase like style but I am just reading the manual. See you back in a week :D

If you need loop recording and dont want Tracktion, EXT would be my next suggestion.

Thanks for answering. I didn't intend to 'rub it in'.

Anyway, why panic? In a few weeks it will be all clear what the exact pricing will be... And where / how to get it...

Hmmm. EXT looks very promising.
What I need in the host is loop recording and for it to be able to make/program time signature changes.
Say 20 bars of 4/4 and then go in to 5/8 for 4 bars and then back to 4/4.......
Does anybody know if EXT can do it?
I have been told by a friend who owns the biggest music store in Barcelona, to wait 6 months until Mackie figures out how well T2 is doing. They will probably release a light version or the stores/distributors will start lowering the prices. He doesn´t work with Mackie but would try and get hold of a lower priced copy for me at no charge (ie. no profit for him!) that is a friend indeed! :D
So I only have to wait 6 more months 8)
I´m thinking about getting EXT too as it seems to be so cool.
