OK, here's my situation: I have (or had) T1 installed on my current audio computer but want to move it to a new one I'm getting this week. Then I want to get the T2 upgrade. How do I do this most easily? Do we still have to register machine numbers with Mackie, and how do we get those (I forgot what I did on the install)?

Or, if I go for the boxed upgrade, which I may, should I just get that and install it and send in my $60 rebate, IOW just forget about installing T1 first on my new comp?

Do I have to install T1 first if I get the $20 online upgrade, or does that give me a full (albeit smaller) copy of T2 that doesn't need to see a previous T1 install to work properly?

Thanks for any help. This moving softare and licenses to a new machine is making me nervous. :?

the online upgrade doesn't need to have T1 installed on your computer at all; as long as it's registered mackie are aware of your ownership. the upgrade process is merely a license transfer procedure, done at mackie's end over the internet via a form & transaction.

you fill it in, pays-yer-money, and you get an email with a new license code.

install T2 (via the links obtained from logging back in after your transaction has gone thru, or from the demo obtained by normal methods), and then unlock it online - that's the easiest method.. you type in your license from your email and it sorts out the computer id's automatically behind the scenes over the internet. another job well done!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Thanks for the help! Only thing is, I probably won't be hooking up this computer to the web. I dunno, maybe I'm paranoid, but I figure if I don't need to, why not keep things as simple as possible?

I assume there's a procedure if you're not hooked up to the web?

This is my exact situation.

My T1 machine is on it's last legs - win98SE athlon 1.2GHz, 256 MB. I want to upgrade both the machine and the code.

I got the e-mail as I'm a registered T1 owner.

I think I might want to do the boxed upgrade, just to get, believe it or not, mostly the soundfont player and the cool box.

I do know that the online upgrade expires at the end of July, so I have to move soon to get the online deal. But I'm not sure I have to have the new PC first.

Yes - I just did this. I bought the boxed T2, installed on my non-internet computer then got my machine ID from the "about" dialog box. With this and the license key included in the package you enter them on the mackie site (using my other internet computer) and you get a small file you download to unlock the T2. Link to the reg is:

http://www.mackie.com/authorize

BTW - you can reg on two machines just like the T1 version.

yup, it's the same procedure if you don't want to unlock it online as T1 used.

as i've said, you don't need to be on the computer you're going to be using T2 on to be able to perform the upgrade; it's a mackie-side thing, and has nothing to do with your computer, it's just upgrading the license. you don't need it installed. as long as T1 is registered on your mackie account and it offers you the upgrade, you are able to upgrade.

Thanks, folks. Sounds as if it should be pretty painless.
