T2 sounding random double notes (midi) - bug?

Im getting random "double" sounding notes in midi. No VSTs.

I record midi in from my SY77 onto one track - say a bunch of chords. Then I record onto another track (arpeggio or whatever) and I (sometimes) hear double chord notes like the same note sounding 1/16 apart. But of course no "double" notes in the midi edit view or anything. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not.

Ive tried local off, etc. Never happened in T1 or Sonar3, etc.

Driving me crazy.

PC P4 1.8MHZ, Windows 2000, T2, M-Audio 410.

actually its more like it starts and stops midi play really fast. I may have seen it in the demo and thought it was just the "demo version random all midi notes off". But this is my "unlocked" doing this....

If I export the midi and play in Sonar its perfect. If I play the clip in the project window its perfect. The source however does the random thing.

:help:

Someone try this. Its the easiest way Ive found to duplicate it.

Play bar long notes like play C3 (hold it for one bar) then C4 (hold it for one bar) - do this for maybe 10 bars. This lets you hear when it stop/starts. Now loop this and replay and listen for awhile. Happens every few minutes, sometimes twice within a few seconds. Like its sending all notes off then restarting. Sometimes though it goes for a looong time w/o.

there's a setting for "send all controllers off when play stops" in the settings - try toggling that and see if it makes any difference.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

toggling "send all controllers off.." doesnt change a thing.

bum :(

I can't even remember if that setting affects looping, but it seemed to be worth a try.

none of your tracks is adding extra latency is it (IE no tracks with SIR or a limiter or somesuch)?

Used to have that same issue in Traction 1, it was a major reason why I stopped using it.

I had such problems and it came from my sound card, precisely from the midi wave table. You may try to put a VSTi as an output and see if it still bugs. If it doesn't some VSTi reproduce midi wave tables. Let me know if this helps...

Its about as simple a setup as can be. No VSTs, just a ten bar midi with long notes C3-D3-C3-C4 etc so I can hear when it cuts out. Playing midi out to my SY77. Nothing else. I loop the notes then play - dont have to be recording or anything. It really seems like it just "note-offs" then comes back on.

I dont really think its the looping or anything, just that the looping lets me play it long enough for it to happen. Usually about a minute or so, but not periodic.

Happens random, but happens.

Does my prob sound much like yours? IE just midi, kinda like a random note off event being sent?

I understand why it would make it unusable for you, its really anoying...

try playing the same MIDI clips with a plug-in synth: does the problem go away?

Im at work and will try it when I get home (in 9 hours !!) uggggh!!!

I was going to see if I could download midiyoke or something to see if I can tell whats crawling out of the midi port. Any know how I can look at the midi out stream (is midiyoke the right tool?) I have midiOX but it isnt multiclient right?

Sounds like what I have experienced with external MIDI (the All Notes Off/All Controllers Off being sent at random) as my SY22 reacts in a similar manner, i.e. sounds as if the note is being doubled when it occurs.

The problem would happen to me when I was trying to play a Gigastudio instrument through Tracktion. Gigastudio installs a midi loopback driver which it uses for input, so I would basically be using tracktion's midi out to send midi to Gigastudio. I haven't tried it in awhile, but if I remember correctly I would get double notes on both live playing and playback. I did not have this problem using other hosts.

sounds like at least it isnt happening just to me...

Hey - I checked your webpage. I see your SY-edit program. I wrote a TG33 editor in windows along time ago (TG33 Edit) if your interested. I also have a TON of SY22/33/35 voices if your interested. PM or email me. Regards
