Distorted end-to-end sound

Hi all,
I recently upgraded to T2 and start using it again a lot. Great software!!!
However I recently start witnessing some strange distorted sound when I enable-end-to-end on the line input. It is happening both with my old T1 copy and the new T2.
Now the very strange thing is, that when I insert certain filters/VST's (like for example Traktion Reverb) on the track that the input is connected to, the distortion goes away??? However other VST's (like Traction Delay) don't seem to have this "healing" capabilities.
The distortion almost sounds like the latency of my asio driver is too low. If I bring the latency all the way up to 50ms the problem seems to go away, but this is unfortunatly not workable.
With a "healing" VST inserted, even 1.4 ms latency is working fine.
Does anyone know what a possible cause could be? If needed I could post the distorted sound since it also ends up in the track when I record.
Thanks in advance.
Peter

That might help, as it's not something I've ever come across.. some details about your system might help too. (soundcard, drivers, OS, system spec etc..)padekkers wrote: If needed I could post the distorted sound since it also ends up in the track when I record.

AUTO-ADMIN: Non-MP3, WAV, OGG, SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter and Facebook links in this post have been protected automatically. Once the member reaches 5 posts the links will function as normal.
Here is some more details:Machine: AMD 64 3200, 1 Gig memory
OS: Windows XP sp1
Soundcard: Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96
Traktion: 2.0.1.2
Here is the URL for a sound file (zipped wav file). Twice played the same few notes on my guitar, the only difference is that before the second time I enabled the Traktion Reverb plugin (and therefor no distortion occurs) on the track. Other than taht no chenages at all.
Hopes this helps.

Weird..
are you using ASIO drivers monitoringwith the card? Have you tried changing the ASIO monitoring parameter in the settings page? (can't remember what its called atm, I'm at work..)

No I don't use the hardware monitoring/mixing capabilities of my soundcard (although it does work without any distortion).platinumears wrote:Weird..are you using ASIO drivers monitoringwith the card? However normally I plugin my guitar through a DI-box direct in my soundcard and use a VST amp-simulator. SO I need the software monitoring functionality.
Also perhaps worth mentioning is that other audio software like FL Studio doesn't have this issue. There I can monitor without any distortion (with the same ASIO driver settings).

What sample-rate / resolution are you running at? Have you checked you have the latest driver version?

I tried different samples-rates and resolutions and am running with the latest version of the driver.platinumears wrote:What sample-rate / resolution are you running at? Have you checked you have the latest driver version?
The soundclip I provided previously is recorded with 44K/16 bit, but I also tried 48k/24 bit.
I also tried one more thing, to put the Traktion Reverb plugin in the "master output filter" section. This also solves the distortion problem. The plugin doesn't do anything since it is set on 100% dry mix, but still is solves the distortion. Weird ?????
Anymore ideas what I can try?

Peter
